There was a recent post that gave advice about the type of oil for Mixmaster Gears and how to properly top off the gear box.

Since that was posted, I have found this charming Model 7B at a local thrift shop. It seems to work very well - and I would like to insure that the gears are properly oiled. If you know about these things, I would appreciate your reply.

More on gear oil

Laundress thanks for the response. Since my post I spent time on a web search and found this care sheet.

Unfortunately “Special Mixmaster Lubricant” is no longer available. I suspect a good automotive wheel bearing grease would do.

I tried to follow the simple steps to inspect the grease compartment, but the flat head slotted center screw did not turn easily. I need to get a slotted screwdriver and grind it to exactly fit the slot and try again.

Again , thanks, David

Kenwood do a special "food grade" grease for the Chef gearboxes- I dont know if maybe Kitchenaid do anything similar??

RE: Over Here

A "food grade" grease sounds like an excellent idea. I will follow up and see what I can find.

Thanks, Seamus
