Those are kneading hooks for making bread dough. This looks just like the last Mixmaster my late mother owned! She tried those dough hooks once and they didn't seem to work too well, alas...

Lovable mixmaster, I have one too. But mine is a more "heavy duty" model (power plus) you can actually knead every sort of dough.
The two hooks in the second pic are "kneaders".
To be clear:
They won't knead dough like bread dough or other sorts of hard dough, infact for the bread, pizza or harder "elastic" doughs you need actual hook shaped things (my mixmasted has them), that kind of mixmaster isn't meant to knead hard doughs in it', if you attempt to make an hard dough with them not only they will not handle it, but you'll probably overheat the thing if not destroying it all...
These kind of kneaders are meant to mix softer things, like who knows...a dough for some, dumplings, gnocchi, Rabaton or blend a pie filling etc...
The have a similar use of the K shaped hook of the Kitchen Aid....

Eric:

YES, that's a good mixer, and it's going to get you through everything you want to do with the exceptions of heavy doughs, as noted upthread.

That particular mixer is a late one; it looks like maybe the second half of the '70s to me. It's what's called an "MM Series" mixer; its model number will begin with "MMA" or "MMB," probably the latter.

Collectors call these "Plasticmasters," because their outer housing is mainly plastic, instead of the metal housings Sunbeam used prior to the introduction of the MMA. The innards are of very high quality; don't let anyone make you feel like these are lesser machines than earlier ones.

Our dear, departed friend Kelly mixfinder swore by Mixmasters, preferring them to KitchenAids for most tasks, and he could make them stand up and do tricks.

Excellent find. Especially for eight bucks. Do yourself one favor - start looking for a set of stainless bowls on eBay. It makes a huge difference to have unbreakable bowls.

Very Nice Table!

One of the things I'd love to have is a kitchen with grey or red cracked ice countertops, with the metal edging.

One more tip - take very good care of that power cord. They are a little spendy to replace, and nothing else but a Mixmaster cord fits, so far as I know. You seriously lucked out getting one with the machine - most Plasticmasters that turn up in thrifts don't have it included.

I was chomping at the bit to make a cake so a blue one for easter. It worked great scraped the
Sides and bottom perfect. I think i will be very happy with it.

They make great whipped potatoes as well... You can use it like a big hand mixer right in the pot. That was my first big I bought back in the early 80's.. although mine didn't have the bowl select on the side so that ones probably a few years earlier

You may just find the large bowl in clear, opaque, or stainless at one of the thrift stores.. They're common as dirt a lot of times. The workers in those stores don't know what they're for usually. I can spot them a mile away. Look for the pouring lip and the rim around the bottom that fits into the turntable, plus it'll probably say Sunbeam on the bottom

Great!

Now, keep your eyes open for a set in stainless, which will be harder to find, but which will also turn up eventually.

The reason? It will keep you from coming down with the dread disease Brokenitis, which always occurs in the middle of a project that is time-sensitive and mission-critical, say, a birthday cake you've promised to bring to a party that very evening.

If Brokenitis never strikes, you're still ahead of the game - with two sets of bowls (and a second set of beaters) you'll never have to stop and re-wash stuff between, say, the cake and the frosting. Stick the dirties in the dishwasher, pick the clean ones out of the cabinet and keep on truckin'.

I have two sets of stainless bowls and two sets of beaters for my Dormeyer Princess. Mixer nirvana.
