So, I pulled some ground beef out of the freezer Friday to make a meatloaf. I mixed it and baked it this morning (w/ chopped shrooms and proscuitto in it). I bought a bunch of garlic because we were running out of roasted garlic, so I took care of that too. BJ's sells a sleeve of about 30 heads for $5!

If you cut the tops off and bake it with olive oil, it gets sweet and mushy! So-o-o-o good!

I squeeze the cloves out of the heads, making sure not to get any of the paper (skins) in there. The garlic goes in Mason jars, and I top them with fresh olive oil. The infused oil is stored in a jar of its own for basting and cooking. Yum!!!

Eternal Beau!

eeeek! The house my ex and I bought had Eternal Beau accessories in the kitchen including a clock they left on the wall made of a plate with clock works on it. I notice you have Eternal Beau plates too. Didnt know ya could get that design in the States too? Even the teacups and tea pot were that shape too. Shocking!

Rich, that meal looked so so good, just wish that we lived closer as it would be so fun to cook together. Thanks for sharing.

Rich found it in either Marshall's or TJ Maxx (designer names for less and that sort of thing). We've been able to add to the set by buying on eBay UK and having the pieces shipped to our friend in Nottingham, who sends shipments of goods for sale to us a few times a year.

weekend meals

I had Friday off, power was out to the building at work, so I cooked for Michael. We had "Hoover" fried chicken, rice, mashed potatoes, and broccoli, all washed down with a bottle of good Reisling.
The power was back on at work late Friday night so I worked all day Saturday instead. Michael cooked for me on Saturday, we had steak, homemade french fries, 7-layer salad, sliced tomatoes from the garden, and crescent rolls, followed by more Reisling...
It was all very good!
I spent 3 hours at the gym Sunday night working it off...

I know there are definately great cooks as I have heard Evan telling me how wonderful there food is

OH Jeff...I spent all of Sunday JUMPING to conclusions!! Does that qualify as physical activity? :-) OYE!!
Your Hoover fried chicken sounds delicious. I assume that you mean that you fried it in a Hoover frying pan?

"I've had quite a few delicious "Sunday dinners" there." Ron, You realy know how to cook, too....In the kitchen, in the kitchen!!! :-)

"Boy Rich, You and Chuck always know how to pull off an awsome meal and I bet When You'll have company nothing is left over" Thanks, Skip. We both love to cook. This is what attracted us to each other. Being that I'm Italian and Chuck has spent many years with my family we both tend to cook as though we were going to feed a third world country :-) Their are normally leftovers.

"just wish that we lived closer as it would be so fun to cook together." Terry, you are just going to have to pay a visit to Boston for some good olde Yankee hospitality!!!

"Do you do "candlelight suppers" too? ;)"....only with my best Royal Dalton with the hand painted periwinkles and only if Sheridan brings Tarquin!!!

Meatloaf and/or shepherds pie, two of my favorite meals and the garlicy anything. I'm glad to see it looks like you weren't toasting the bread with the garlic spread already on it, big mistake.. LOL Now I'm of half a mind to go make a shepherds pie and some bruschetta to get rid of some of my garlics.

Tarquin is Sheridan's "friend." I forget how he was first introduced, but I think he had something to do with getting Sheridan involved in drapery making. It evolved from there. Not that we've ever seen either of them!!

OH Jeff...I spent all of Sunday JUMPING to conclusions!!

Now Rich, you have to be careful when doing that! I suppose jumping high and often could qualify as cardio of sorts.
Yes "Hoover" fried chicken is made in a Hoover frypan. I use my mother's recipie, sometimes with a variation. Its always good stuff, and Michael loves it!
I've also made "Hoover" french fries, eggs, pork chops....
