LOL congrats!

You better hope she kept her mail in it and not (the body of) her male in it! LOL

Looks perfect! Enjoy it!

i am so glad you got that

machine! it is basically new, preserved all these years since around 1975! just waiting for you to grab it!

that rust is probably just a little surface rust, i have a bunch of kd-17's and not one of mine has any major rust problem that threatens it's tub life! and some of mine are not in good condition, definately not 'new' like yours! all of mine except the kdss-17a with the stainless tub had that bit of surface rust in the sump like yours.

100 bucks was a great price for a kds-17a in that condition. new like that 300 would not have been unfair in my mind.

as you probably already know you can get a pump seal from hobart, larry in cleveland has em too. they are readily available. it is my guess a seal is the only part for that machine you will ever need and probably not for about 30 years!

what a beauty! i was gonna call on it but i'm so glad i cannot! and yea, i love that new hydrosweep! i recently bought a new hydrosweep off e bay and they look so clean, shiny and black before they start to discolor from use!

what a catch!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now I wish I had kept the racks of my old Whirlpool...built a case around them and used it as a post office. Of well, I did keep the silverware bin...not sure what I can use that for. lol :)

Fantastic!
I am so happy you got it! It is in amazing like new shape.
I tell you what I think the gunk in the bottom of the sump. I think it is Jet Dry.
When I store a dishwasher that has Jet Dry in the dispenser, it comes out looking like this in just a few months. It is a grease like feeling, and always this color.
Congrats on your amazing find. This is a great dishwasher and you will love it!

Thanks Brent.

I'm out in the First Stage area where I clean up machines, The Rust Crap which turned out to be nothing so far... I think Maybe you're right. If I have time I'll post more tonight, but right now, He's looking like Brand New and I'm thinking I might want to keep it. I really dislike Single wash arm KA's, But I think I'm going to hook this one up. Once you go KDS-18, you never come back !!!

Yay! It totally looks like Jet Dry even from your picture.

The single wash arm KA's are awesome! The pumps in these I find are much stronger than the 18's and above models. That Hydro is really pumping big time! It is a matter of loading. Not a big deal when you get the swing of it.

I always loved the KDS-18's. Have one as a daily driver. If you ever you ever seen one in action open you will see that the upper spray arm is no stronger than the top "constant rinse". I find the real cleaning in a 18 is from the Hydro Sweep. The upper spray arm and very top is only a "constant rinse" to get out the left overs from the Hydro.

You have a great find there! You will love the sounds of the pump! It means business!

Thanks for the pictures.
Brent
