I had to replace the shock absorbers in my Frigidaire Gallery GLTF1670AS1 last winter. I purchased the Supco shock kit. 5304485917 is the part number for the shock kit. I installed them according to the instructions and 2 and a half months of use later, the shocks are already worn out. I'm not even hard on this machine. I know that some people in the industry use Supco parts. Well These failed after 2.5 months of use so when I get some money, I'm buying the OEM shock absorber kit from AppliancePartsPros. Buyer Beware. Use OEM Shocks.

Free play

Some shocks have free play. Our FL washing machine has different shocks for wooden floors with free play and it makes a significant difference.

We had a similar model without the free play part and those shocks led the machine to shake the house.

Did the old shocks have a NM rating on the side?

When these shocks were brand new, there was only about a quarter inch of free play at most. I don't remember being able to push down the tub when they were new. I do know that it's normal for the tub to go back and forth but I believe it's supposed to not go up and down so easily. It is effecting the machine. Sometimes it doesn't want to spin from time to time because there's too much free play. I have to stop the machine, wait for the spin lock release lever to unlock and then attempt to redistribute the load myself. Otherwise I find myself restarting the spin cycle because this dumb machine doesn't pause the timer when it's trying to distribute the load. I replaced the shock absorbers to attempt to correct this issue and for the first couple months, it fixed the Frigidaire. But then they wore out. I might disassemble the machine and pull out one of the shocks and see if there's more than a quarter inch of free play.

Kelly..

I had this issue with my Frigidaire Gallery, 417.39012891, now 25 yrs old.

The OEM shock 5304485917 that I replaced the originals with did the same thing.

I found a dual stage shock 137412701 from McCombs Supply that solved the problem.
No more bouncing tub hitting the cabinet on spin.

Hope this helps.

Bill
