Why I do not object too much

about political talk here, shorter version:

Politics: Affects the amount of tax we pay, and on what, for what. Without politics, when we call 911 (at least here), the dispatcher does not ask us for our insurance card number first.

Politics: gives us clean water at home, if not always delectable water. Politics gives children Head Start classes.

So, I, myself, do not mind political talk here.

Now on for the religious: I just say what I say to offer, not to force. There are ways of being a believer and being gay at the same time. Or being gay and a believer.

One last thing. Just because someone might not agree with you does not necessarily make them mentally ill. It just makes them annoying. Unless, of course, they are dealing with a mental health condition or two, like I am, and it makes them ill and annoying.

Lawrence,

Well spoken.

Next to calling in the FBI and getting people fired, the worst thing that happens around here is the way people are called mentally ill, accused of being 'off their meds' and the unfair criticism of those members who have left because they are seriously mentally ill.

Or, accused of being racist.

I believe it's supposed to be an all inclusive site
It is, always has been and always will be. Anyone who says otherwise is wrong.

"Next to calling in the FBI and getting people fired"
Huh? That is the most ridiculous thing I've heard in a long while.

"I guess the question is, Are the members on this site going to allow someone put a blimish on this group or are they going to stand up and just say enough is enough!"

I hate to ask, but would you be willing to clarify who "someone" might be? There seems to be an awful lot of incinuation on threads like this, and not everyone, including the offending party or parties, gets it.

As far as you being a "breeder," some of my best friends.. well, actually, my PARENTS, were breeders! Yay to Art & Sharon (RIP).

Robert,

Oh, I don't remember the exact thread or circumstance when it happened, but I remember seeing in several threads after-the-fact that something like this happened. Someone called someone and got someone in some kind of trouble. I seem to remember there was blue hair involved.

Chuck

Um..

Chuck, I'd have to crown that person as Keven. While I often agree with many of his politics, his manner of presenting those views is often lacking.

I am fine being a largely democratic gay man, but every issue doesn't have to circle back to being oppressed by a republican christian breeder!

There are plenty of other issues in the world than those. Before Keven or anyone jumps on me for naming him, a few others sometimes stir the pot, just not as efficiently.

Thanks Chuck, FBI lol, hmmmmmmm it sounds like Super Forum Urban Legend to me, lets see if anyone can prove it, I bet they can't.

And while talking about blue hair....

If I see any around my hood, I'm going to call the FBI, the police, the gangstas, AND the Christianists!

(Or maybe just ignore them)

Robert,

I love your magic incantation to shut people up! Somehow when you do it in your "living room" it works. When we try it get's worse.

Twinkle your nose as often as you like. And thank you!

Breeders?

That's one I haven't heard before...

I've been a member for a relatively short time here, compared to most but enjoy the site and the other members immensely. In reality, I usually don't even think of anyone else here in terms of Gay or Straight unless the subject is purposely tossed out there in the threads. You're all friends who sharemy passion for collecting and restoring vintage appliances to me.

I don't really participate in the discussions when they turn to politics or religion. I don't mind them per se since I'm willing to respect other's opinions and possibly broaden my mind BUT these discussions will frequently degrade into foul, dark, offensive name calling sessions that serve no purpose other than to HURT. It's also hard to sometimes point a finger at the perpatrator of it all since all offended parties take such awful shots at each other, it's almost impossible to tell. The thing that hurts me the most is that when I see people I think highly of tossing crap around, I'm not too proud of being a AW member myself. THAT bites... I really think we can be better than that..

Take it from someone who......

Knows first hand, you can never erase rude hateful comments or deeds,I have been a real b^%$h in the past, and usually in the end I find out I was wrong in the first place, trust me its a lot better to shut up than make an enemy and then realize how stupid you were and have to go to that person and apologize,I had to do it just this week for something I took the wrong side on years back, I cant ever erase the hurt I caused, nor the time I lost with this person, trust a very high tempered person, its a lot better to just not say anything than to say things you will regret,we have way too much in common!

I'm as gay as they come, but the neighbors don't seem to think so. I have friends on this street, and don't hide from people, but I don't mix freely, since there is a criminal element not far from here. I've been unshorn and groomed for months and they don't equate that with gay. The property doesn't have that perfect country club look. My roommate is a woman seven years older than me. Frankly, I believe in marriage, my parents had a great marriage for 42 years, and it disturbs me to hear about the high divorce rate. I just as much believe in gay rights, and am convinced that the general public does too. It's a small group that would rather see us eradicated in some way.

No one should be made to feel they don't belong anywhere, unless they are off the charts crazy. In spite of what the general opinion seems to be here, there aren't any of those. Just some people who can't control their acidic sarcasm, or opinions that don't get good reception. Let's see how welcome I'd be here if I said what I really think.
