SuperScrimpers testing Laundry Detergents

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

I saw it, but...

I thought it was a very dumbed down comparison. They tested:
Persil Biological powder,
Lidl Formil powder,
Aldi Almat powder,
Sainsbury's Basics powder.

The premise being, can a cheaper detergent clean as well as the dearer ones? For cost effectiveness, powders were the cheapest.

Reflectivity was "measured", by means of a handheld UV striplight.

The stain removal tests looked dreadful (to my mind), leaving great stains on all the T-shirts.

Fragrance freshness was assessed by members of the public too.

Almat seemed to come out tops for freshness, and appeared to clean almost as well as Persil.

However, there were no tests of P&G detergents (Ariel, Bold, Daz, Fairy), and no mention of value Unilever brand, Surf, either.

I was of the opinion that it wasn't a reasonable consumer test, therefore lacking considerable substance.
