I was in the local Chemist Warehouse today and noticed they had a display of Surf powder from the USA made by Sun products, and so of course seeing something new I just had to buy a box as we really needed extra laundry detergent(honest and for truly!).
Will be interested to see how it performs compared to the local Surf by Unilever which has improved markedly in the last few years.
Noticed reading the ingredients it also contains Sodium Perborate along with enzymes so should a good clean in warm water especially.

I noticed this just today in chemist warehouse. Mine also has Fab liquid from the USA, Ajax laundry liquid from the USA and Finish Gelpac detergent for the dishwasher. In next weeks catalogue ive noticed that they also have Dawn dish soap coming in as well.

Let me know how this performs im curious :-)

Dawn dish soap

I noticed the Dawn dish liquid in mine too, didn't see the Ajax liquid, might be worth a look too.
Matty do you have Go-Lo/Crazy Clark's stores in Perth? they too have a range of imported cleaning goods, bought some cream cleaner for work the other day called Cleaning Time was a twin pack cream cleanser and powder cleaner similar to Bon Ami and Ajax.

Just remember that Surf US powders are NOT HE and will generate a fair amount of suds, so dose carefully. However, the US Surf liquids are formulated for all washers. I find the "mar brilliante" scent way too strong but Spring Burst is very pleasant - almost vintage smelling. Interestingly enough, the Surf liquids are only available in Mar Brilliante and Aloha Splash scents - while the powder does come in Spring Burst as well.

Overall does a good job of cleaning - but I don't exactly lead a high soil/stain life...

That's a good detergent! I like it!  If I manage to my next detergent order will be some surf citrus scent!
I love citrus scent in detergent!

Surf Citrus breeze will be my in next order for sure!

But looks like is getting harder to be found around! Just a month ago I could see it everywhere online, amazon had many sellers selling it, now results online are just few....also looked like they all were making a clearance of it as it was so cheap, a 180 box costed something like 18$ or so ... so I wonder if is discontinued??? What else?
Not sure what's going on..... just hope to still find it for my next order!

Anyway, about HE.... In Australia they have HE and non HE powders too....
In Australia there is not the HE symbol because there is not the  american  HE (Idiotical) concept , they just state regular/ top loader  and for front loaders....so I think there will be no problem in this sense, they would probably assume it is regular since they can't read for front loaders, rather they just should let people know that HE means that,  low suds and  so for front loaders, otherwise people  even if  seeking for "low suds"  would not buy it cuz do not know what HE stand for ....

Surf detergent here in the US is manufactred by Sun products, which took over all the Unilever brands a few years back. It's one of the detergents I have in my rotation and will probably be used on Mon-Tues when I visit the laundrmat.

I'm fairly pleased with the job it does on my laundry.

I rally, really REALLY need to stop skimming messages and start reading them a bit more thoroughly before I post.

My apologies for repeated info from the beginning message.

However, one thing that wasn't mentioned about Surf. It's in a more moderate and affordable price range over Tide (especially if it comes with a 1.00 off coupon on the box).

Australian Surf

This has just entered my rotation, a small 22 wash box (Concentrate) that cost my just $1.49! What a bargain! Like the title of this reply, it is the Australian Unilever product - mine is scented 'Ylang Ylang and Lily.' Comes in a pink box!

And regarding He/Non-He symbols, SOME detergents (Such as Duo and Radiant) do contain these symbols. The FL/TL labels are too easy to miss with the colourful detergents they have on the shelf, so you have to be rather careful when you are buying detergent. I mistakenly bought the Yellow TL Surf when I decided to "test" it - which required a trip back to the supermarket. Thank-goodness I work there :)

After doing around 5 or 6 loads with my Surf in the Miele yesterday, I can say I am very impressed with the results. Its not overly sudsy, like our Enzyme detergent (Bio-Zet) and is slightly less so than Omo - and you can dose quite a bit more without any issue. Whilst the stuff is pungent as ever in the box, it leaves a nice, gentle scent when one isn't using fabric softener. It also seems to rinse out quite well too.

He symbol in Australian detergents.

Yep, right, in SOME there is even the HE symbol but not in most of them from what I know, and always from what I know the symbol  HE  it's often, if not always either <span id="result_box" class="short_text" lang="en"><span class="hps">accompanied by the statement "front loader"  and draw of a front loader machine or even both of them....
A clever thing indeed in Australian detergents, is that they distinguish the two types with different colors also, like in the case of the Drive powder, also DUO powder do have a lighter background for FL powders and darker for TL, and even in the surf  the type indications panel,  is darker for TL and lighter for FL.
So since in the american detergents, now there is only a small symbol, and  either may be not clear for many and also not easy to see I think they should make it more clear...especially for Australian customers used to read Front loader and top loader, and not so aware of the HE symbol concept  etc.....
Also, it is happened to me once to buy a Tide box on ebay that didn't say HE in description, and that I didn't notice the symbol in the pic...
I was disappointed and wished they would write it bigger....they should do that IMO.

Love the Surf launderess shown!  How I'd love they bring it back!!!
I loved also their home-made commercial competition.

I think one of the best is that catchy Gospel adver....
"Surf save the day...na..na..na..." Loved it!  Me and my sister used to sing it for two days...you know, when you have a song in the head and you keep singing it...
Love it!
Just found it on YT:

@Laundress

Hyacinth Bucket only have used Persil as it's got a royal seal of approval on it :D

"By Appointment to Her Majesty the Queen"

I'd doubt she'd have let Daz or Surf anywhere inside the door as they're 2nd tier detergents in the Unilever and P&G UK product line ups :)

You'd never know who else they'd let use products like that!

"By Appointment to Her Majesty the Queen"

Yes, Like Liz is down in the laundry with her hands in hot water and face to the fire.

*LOL*

Or as Kitty would say:

"So lent over, tapped her on the cleavage with a pastry fork... I said my mother gave birth to twins in an unheated wash house and got straight up and finished the mangling, so think on!" *LOL*
