I’m helping out a friend clean out a very messy house, in which, is a Panasonic microwave of unknown vintage. Anything moved, reveled a cockroach community running for cover. Sometime in the afternoon, hunger pangs took over so I went down the street, bought a couple of hot pockets, and tossed them in the microwave. I set three minutes and waited. The cooking stopped, the bell rang, I opened the door. Several large roaches ran off the turntable. I could understand this if the hot pockets were not hot.

Any ideas? Tom

You've proven what scientists have been saying for decades:  The only creatures capable of surviving a nuclear war and its related hot pockets are the roaches.

I can't imagine the power of a nuclear warhead exists in a microwave - especially vintage models that aren't high-power like many of today's models. 

 

That said cockroaches are notoriously difficult to get rid of, at least without employing a good set of chemicals. The "German Roaches" especially (those tiny ones that live in kitchens and come out at night...).

Please don't misunderstand what I am saying, but the last thing I would want to do in a Roach Infestation is eat anything in that dwelling let alone use a microwave or anything in that kitchen.

 

When I buy appliances off of Craig's List, pending on the environment they came from, more than once I would tent them outside and fumigate them with Roach Spray just to insure they wouldn't come in the house.
