Check out this beautiful, almost 100-year-old Tudor in Montgomery, AL.  Almost 6,000 square feet, Fabulous grounds and landscaping, lots of peaceful spots to relax.  Even has a pool table - on the THIRD floor.  I can see F. Scott Fitzgerald and Zelda attending parties there (Zelda was from Montgomery).  All of this for a not-so-bad price, too.

What A Beautiful Property

A home and property like that here in "Silicon Valley" would cost 4-5 million dollars.
It's no wonder why so many here are "selling out" and moving to more affordable areas.
I noticed the radiators.
I've never lived in a house heated by radiators.
They definitely give the house a "vintage" look.

Nice balance of vintage and modern. I assume the interior was mostly gutted at some point to update pluming/electrical and accommodate for modern amenities. The landscape looks nice and 1.3 acres isn't too difficult to care for if you're under 70 years old. 5800 sq feet is way too large of an area for me but could work nicely for a multigenerational family.  I wonder if those radiators are still operational since there's modern HVAC registers throughout the home?

Interesting place

Haven't been to Montgomery since sometime in the late 70's. My mom had friends that lived there, and remember going to their house a few times. It was in the northeast section; a large ranch style built around 1960.

The house for sale is just south of downtown. It reminds me of a smaller version of Pinecroft, the Crosley mansion in Cincinnati, which was built about the same time.

Anyone else think the front yard is kind of barren looking? It needs some additional landscaping, such as some azaleas along the front wall.

Nice property!

Looks well maintained and they either had a good designer or a pro staged the house because it is lacking all the tacky stuff you often see in listings. Price is very reasonable, taxes are insanely low.

Lawrence that is a lovely home.  I could move right in and not have to change a whole lot.  The grounds and setting are beautiful too.  I especially love the brick, it just looks like it will last forever.

For $539,000 in my little town you’d be lucky to buy a small 2 bd 1 bath home that was a fixer upper.  And the property taxes would be approx. $8085 per year. Property taxes in California are approx. 1.5 % of the sale price, then the assessed value can only increase by 1% or less per year as long as you remain living in the home.

What Bill Said

As I went through the pictures I was thinking about what that property would cost here and my estimate was spot-on with Bill's -- 4 to 5 million, or even higher given the current and beyond insane bidding war climate in the SF Bay Area.

The typical buyer for this type of property in our area would completely gut the kitchen and master bath (assuming that's the one with the tiny shower), and that billiard/exercise room would never fly.  A pool would be a must, and the "Florida" room would be open-air and spill out onto a grand patio with authentic wood fired pizza oven -- unless that fad has already passed.  I wouldn't know.

That's just for starters, because this place would for sure be renovated into a trophy home by new owners who are out to impress.  Think monster trucks and what they are compensating for.

My guess is that those radiators work and that there is a basement. There is a lot to like about radiator heat, I have been told by my Chicago son. I think the ductwork is for air conditioning that was added years after the house was built.
I enjoy seeing grand houses like that. I wonder what living in Alabama would feel like.

Nice property. I do think the bathrooms look very old, that tiny shower mentioned is ridiculous. I do like the tub/shower with the arched tile ceiling.

Are those early 90s Thermador double ovens in the kitchen?
