Since acquiring my Filter-Flo pair, I find myself with one-too-many Maytag pairs. I thought I'd offer them here before I tried CL. Neither pair is perfect, but both pair are completely functional. I can be happy with either pair, so the first pair to go will solve the problem. If anyone has an interest, speak up. My goal is to get $150 for a pair. First up - 1977 center dial pair. Washer is an A208, standard capacity, 2-speed, 3 water levels, 4 temperature combinations. This one, with the matching dryer, has been my daily driver for almost 3 years. The dryer is a DG408 gas dryer.

The companion dryer is a DE610 electric dryer with optional press care, 2-temperatures, variable end-of-cycle buzzer, with a light in the drum.

Like I said, I can live with either pair, but one pair really needs to go.

Lawrence

Would you be so kind as to post a close-up shot of the Maytag rear panels(door #2)?

I have the A712 and DE 712.

Just want a comparison of the back panels.

Thanks so much!

Could someone please tell me how Press Care works on this Maytag dryer? I'm fairly familiar now with how Wrinkle Guard/Finish Guard works on Kenmore/Whirlpool dryers, but am unfamiliar with how it works on Maytags.

Me Too! Me Too!

Can someone tell me which of these two washers are the better machine? Or are they identical underneath? I would like the classic center dial look, but the dryer is gas which won't work for me.

press Care on a Maytag is like an additional 20 minutes or so of continuous tumbling and buzzer will sound for 5 seconds maybe once more twice more during htat additional 20 minutes before it stops, which then it buzzes again.

Steve, they're pretty much the same underneath, both have the long-stroke helical transmission. The center dial is std. capacity and the other one is the ex-large capacity

I would love the newer set

Because of the electric dryer but also because it is similar in design to the center dial unit. But, alas, Atlanta is a bit too far to go to get them. I would have to lay the washer down to fit into my minivan and I am sure that would not be wise.

LAYING WASHERS ON THIER SIDES

How many times will this come up? It won't hurt any automatic washer to move it laying down if done with a little common sense. In fact its often the safest way to move many machines, I know one dealer in Ohio and he has always moved the machines he sells in a station wagon both new and used, literally hundreds of them with no problems.

Malcolm,
I thought I recognized your ads. If I didn't have any already - I'd go for that almond pair. I love the "basic" models! I've held off placing a CL ad until I see what happens here, but if you know of a potential buyer, feel free to tell them about these pair.

Three Parties

I have three interested parties. I'll let you know the outcome. Yeah, all three of these machines cleaned up beautifully. I'll be sorry to see them go, but with the SQ's in position, I doubt I'll need a backup set anytime soon. They would be of better use in someone else's laundry room.

** SOLD **

Well, my almond set has been sold. Lawrence, I am gonna send the pix of your both your sets to another interested buyer. I'll let you know if they are interested...

you guys have some beautiful machines.....I know it would be killing me to give them up.....but glad to going to people who will care for them....

one question...on Maytag Center Dial Dryers.....how did you "start" the machines....did the dial push in, or was there no "start" switch during these years of production?.....
