If I rembember correctly, the ads say 3,300 RPM.
I'm going to bet these things get way popular this winter with energy prices soaring, since they cut down the time in the tumble dryer by more than half. Which also means the tumble dryer should last twice as long, and that's good for folks here with vintage machines.

..about the plastic model...
a few folks bought the plastic one for $119.95 online. how have they held up so far? i'm thinking about buying one. would rather have a spin-x but the cost is prohibitive.

If you read through the posts about the plastic machines a lot of them have ended up exploding, the tub breaks off while at full speed (3,100 RPM)

I have had my plastic one (we refer to it as the Pakistani model here as that is where it is mfgd) since July and it is still working fine.
We use it on every load of laundry we do. Everything seems to come out softer and drying times are greatly reduced. The clothes even look slightly "newer" due to all the detergent residue being extracted from the clothing. We can now dry a full load of shirts in 18-20 minutes on "Gentle", out super thick towels which used to take about 65 minutes to dry now take about 35 minutes.
I always thought that our WP TL machine did do a good job of extracting water from the completed load, but after running them through the spinner, they come out much lighter in terms of weight. Water weighs a lot (7 lbs per gallon).
I would look closer at the Spin-X, but for the price they are asking, you could buy a decent ML dryer! Another thing to look at is to find one on Ebay, and import it and run it on a converter.....
Due to the fact that it's rather lightweight, the Pakistani spinner takes some getting used to. You can't spin an entire load of towels at one time, usually a full TL load gets divided up into three spinner loads. However you can spin an entire queen size sheet set in one spin. You only have to spin for 3-4 minutes to get great results. Learning how to load the thing properly for good balance is an art form.
The thing is noisier than anything else I have ever used. It certainly does sound like a jet engine starting up. Plus while it is coming up to speed, the sides of the unit start vibrating with a resonance just to add more noise to the effect. I put mine on a rubber backed throw rug and that seemed to quiet it down quite a bit. Sometimes however, the resonance will stop when the spinner hits full speed.
Another note is that if you get one of these Pakistani spinners and it breaks the Laundry Alternative does seem to be pretty good about refunding your money. We have not had to do that.
Would I buy one of these again? Even with it's short comings, I still think its a pretty good value. Yes!
