Tap Cold Water Temperature

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

We've been getting noticably warm water from the taps. Heard on the news last weekend that the Browns Ferry nuke plant had to shut down one of their reactors because the water they are drawing from the Tennessee River is exceeding 90 F.

Were they shut down because the input water was over 90 or
because their discharge was over 90...?

86 Degree's! Wow, thats warm - cold water. My cold tap water is cold at 54 degree's. But then again my water is coming out of a well and isn't city water so there is no chance of it heating up to that temperature. It's great for cool down care, but not good for cold water washing!

Turned on the kitchen tap. The initial flow peaked at 85°F. I left it running for several minutes, ended at 81°F. On a private well. Outdoor temp at this time, "unofficial" on my thermometer, is 91°F. Weather.com reports ... 91°F :-) says feels like 100°F.

Tom----

The cold water here in Atlanta has been running warm right out of the tap!!!!! I swunny I've never experienced such a thing here in all my life! Can you believe it! Remember when it was so crisp and ice cold all summer?

upper 90's

What a nice temp. We have been in the 100's all last week. HUMID AS ALL get out. This weekend we got some relief down to the upper 80's.

Steve, You are right. I remember in the summer that the water coming out of the hose was so cold that we would fill the great big galvanized tub and let it sit in the backyard so that the sun would warm it before we bathed our big collie. Looking back, we could have easily brought some hot water from inside, but I guess we were doing it the way my father did as he grew up in a time of limited hot water. The rinse was like the Resource Saver, a cold spray rinse from the hose. It would be interesting to see if the tap water at our old house was still cold or if it was much warmer now, but I would not get out of my car back there anymore.

Browns Ferry

goprog: The intake water from the river is over 90 F. There is an EPA-mandated limit on how hot the discharge water can be, so when the intake water exceeds that temperature, they have to cut back the heat load. Since the plant hasn't got any other means of cooling, they had to shut down one reactor.
