Would anyone know/have for sale the oven control unit for a Tappan Fabulous 400. Friends have a Tappan and it's gone wonky so I figure I'd try here. Any info on who might sell them etc..

does it need switches, or is there a short? I really like the Fab 400, even better than the Flair. The butcher block top is fabulous!
I've not actually checked out the stove myself it belongs to my friends brother and they're about 4 hrs away so I can't be certain. I'll call back and double check

I'm sure many people have seen this Fab 400 range for sale on eBay, start bid $100/BIN $250. Has a problem with large oven , max temp is 325. Still a very nice stove. Sorry, I continue to have problems posting links on here.

I called to find out more. All the switches/timers etc do work. The main oven elements are only coming on slightly warm and don't heat up...could it be the thermostat?

Maybe the t-stat, but I'd also check the wiring to see if there is a broken or cooked connection somewhere not allowing full power to the elements. The clock could also be suspect. The contacts (usually in the time bake on/off area) can be going bad and affect the power, even on manual... Does the oven have a cavity thermostat that kills power to the elements in a potential run away situation? Those t-stats USUALLY will reset by themselves but some have a button to push to reset. I'm assuming that the cooktop elements work fine?

Andrew,,, what exactly is a cavity thermostat?
He checked all the switches etc and everything seems fine.. do you know who might sell a replacement T-stat for one of these things?
