For several years now I have had this full size Tappan microwave. At my best guess, it is from the early 80s.
I actually preferred it to either the GE I grew up with, or the Radarange I had in my first apartment, both for performance and because it has a browner element in the top. Also it has a removable glass splatter sheild in the top, a glass tray in the bottom, and a wire rack in the center.
For the last 2 years it has gradually gotten weaker, to the point of being about a 450 watt microwave instead of the 700 watts it started out with.
I had learned to cope with the decreasing power, but the last few months, the stirrer motor has been working only intermittently, and now it has stopped altogether.
I have found a replacement magnetron and motor online, but I am looking at about 300 dollars for the parts. Does anyone have a parts machine they would be willing to tear into? I hate to toss this one, but I cant justify 300 dollars to repair it.
