Chad, dude,,,,

You didn't have to start another thread.

I am glad you found a site that might be useful.

It might have been much better if you'd just added the post to the other thread.

chad, perhaps since its your grandmother, and youve shown the ability to speak/type common English HERE, it would be most sensible to communicate with your gramma using traditional written English? if your grandmother feels like learning something new, im sure she will tell you.

True David!

There is a lot of concern among teachers that "cyber-speak" is taking the place of proper grammar and spelling. Even high school students are using terms like BRB, LOL, IMHO, etc. in critical analysis essays. This does not bode well for their future as well as the future of the American workforce.

Yes, the Queen's English is confusing and frustrating, but necessary for communication skills in the global marketplace.

Chad, you would do all involved a great service by communicating with your grandmother utilizing proper English and giving her a headsup on some of these crazy cyber terms! She may find them to be quite humourous!

Viva Venus!

I'm all for technological advancements, but it sure is refreshing to hear someone make the cause for the preservation of speaking proper English. Rock on, sister. (And just please ignore any grammatical errors in the above statement.)

Yes please. Methinks this is considered a necessary courtesy to all the other members.

I'd say it helps all of us when most threads stand-alone.
And for those of us who do have an attention span, continuing themes in one thread rather than starting a new one REALLY helps us stay focused, on-track and post meaningful things that others can realate to and learn from.

A very wise den-mother reminded us that we all learn more by listenting than by speaking! There is alwys someone here who knows more about a subject than we do!

So pretty please with sugar on top, can we give Mr. MaytgBear's idea a shot? Just like the washers whose name he has borrowed, he is qood quality, unbeatable construction, hard-to-replace. They are no longer made that way and ultimately someone/something everyone wants him/one as their own!

Chad, as bLowe's says: You CAN do it. We can help!

I agree with Lawrence

Having a short attention span isn't really an excuse for posting two different threads on the same matter. It's a message board, not a chatroom or real-time conversation, and you could have just as easily responded to the other thread. Please try to apply this in the future and it will make things a lot better! :)
