Tear Down Video Series - GE vs. SQ vs. Maytag

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

If everyone were like me the filter flo would still be in production somewhere. GE would also have faced multiple class action lawsuits, consumer fraud charges and a tribunal for their tax evasion, atrocious late 90s/2000s products and abusive customer service.

I wish the washer to the left in the video was a GE FF instead of what has become of modern day GE.

GE washers

The GE washers that came after the filter-flo shook during agitation. I expected it to do that during spin. I remember when I first got mine, it sounded awful when it agitated. It felt cheap. Granted, it did a good job cleaning.

The entire inner and outer tub shakes during agitation, sometimes causing the tub straps to break.

In spin I personally had the tub resonate to the point of banging against the cabinet. There are documented cases of these washer self destructing because of it. The suspension is to un-dampened and the basket accelerates way to fast.

Cleaning is good on small loads, but on large loads the turn over was very poor. The clothes around the agi would get shredded while the rest would just jiggle as everything else shook around them.

Post FF washers should never have seen the light of day. I also feel they're way to over-rated by the appliance community in general.

Speed Queen Motor

Opportunity ruined.

What the video doesn't mention is that the Speed Queen motor is isn't just 1 HP, but also a 3 phase high frequency inverter driven where as the two other motors are across the line permanent split capacitor motors. Absolute night and day difference in terms of motor protection, torque, noise, vibration, speed control, tub control, braking, sensing, efficiency, heat generation, longevity, and data feedback. The video is essentially botched failing to mention these very important advantageous facts.

I feel videos like these are unfair to Speed Queen, they don't do justice to Speed Queen's quality failing to mention important technical details and countless ingenious engineering concepts built into Speed Queen.

Then again truth is much to profound. If all three machines were compared from a pertinent engineering, physics, design, mathematical and economic standpoint the Speed Queen would rack up so many points it would make the video look obscenely biased toward Speed Queen.

Hopefully the next videos will highlight how the tub seal, motor shaft and best top loading suspension ever built on the Speed Queen can out last the other two machines by 60 years.

It's kind of weird how they make a big deal out of a design that was the norm on most top load washers through at least the 90's. We've severely backslidden the last couple of decades. Yay for progress, right?

I wonder how something

Like them Lavado redonda Machines agitate in comparison to something like the “perfect“ wash system plus I feel like perfect it can also be considered an arbitrary word As perfect to one person may be different compared to another
