We're having fun down in Bellville...washing nonstop and listening to Fifth Dimension records, etc!!! WOOHOO!!! Here are a few pictures; first one is Bob's MASSIVE 1-18 load. Biggest one in the machine, and it actually turned over well! Pictures didn't do it justice!

Who attended the events besides Mom & I? Glenn (DADoES), Bob (Appnut), Bryan (Westtexman), Jason (JasonL) Steve (MayKen4Now), and Jeff (as Jeff). Steve & Jeff left about 30 minutes ago, but everyone else is still here! Lots of loads left to do too...more pictures from Bellville to come!

Didn't get any of EC, unfortunately, but Jason got some good videos :)

Oops, wrong name! Here's some White-Rustinghouse...I mean White-Westinghouse Dual-Tumble action...works EXCELLENT with the Fresh Start that Bryan sent down. It sudses enough to provide wonderful washday drama, but not enough to suds-lock the machine or block visibility (i.e. window covered in suds like I've done before). I shut the hose connection off and reset the pressure switch, so in this picture the machine is tumbling in one direction...counterclockwise. Much splashier action on counterclockwise tumbling as well...the jury is still out to discover the reasoning behind THAT.

Notice the piles of laundry...I did two "full-capacity" loads in this machine, which can hold MUCH more than I originally thought! It seemed to spin much better fully loaded...I'll keep that in mind in the future!

So, how did it go, Austin? Did your house get trashed by the raucous AW.ORG members? Is Venus filing restraining orders, LOL?

Your WW FL'er looks almost identical to my 2nd FL'er, although mine was a Gibson-branded machine. My first FL'er was an '86 (or was it '87?) Frigidaire FL'er. It was offered only as a rear-control type. The dispensers were still on top, like the classic Westy's. It didn't reverse-tumble and the solenoids made a loud BANG when it went into a spin.

Looking forward to more pictures and video and stories!

Sure looks like you guys are having a good time. Wish that I could be there!! More pictures please!! Terry

The two laundry baskets at the right of the White-Westy ard the massive 1-18 load you see all nicely folded in front of Glenn & myself as well as a load of sheets I did in the WO65-2 Unimatic.

The only restraining order for Venus is the one I had to execute on her. Her Bosh dishwasher got "Bob loaded". Venus commits the mortal sin of pre-rinsing before she puts in dishwasher. I tortured her by loadeding the dinner dishes and utensils unwashed, scraped at best.

This was too much fun!

What a blast we had this weekend! It started Friday night with the trek to Glenn's. It was wonderful to finally meet Steve, Jeff, and Bryan; and of course, it was wonderful to see Glenn, RJ, Jason, and Bob again!

We had a lot of great conversation, humorous antics (courtesy of Steve LOL), and a great dinner at Los Cucos! Besides the washers, the highlight of the evening was checking out RJ's home theater! All that was missing were the Junior Mints! WOW! is all I can say!

Saturday was great! I played the "mom in the kitchen" and left the hosting chores to Austin. Tom and Hayley picked up the slack on the hosting duties, and even managed to consume some snackies and watch some washer action in the laundry shed. Bob and Glenn brought delicious desserts; Peanut Butter Fudge Cake, Cream Cheese Pound Cake, and Maple Cheesecake. I'm gonna have to hit the gym before the cakes hit my....well, you know.

Toggle: Yes, Bob put me out of my comfort zone by loading the Bosch with smutzy dishes that weren't even clean! LOL SURPRISE......they actually came out the dishwasher showroom fresh! Geez....I thought I knew how to use a dishwasher. I'll never rinse another plate! I was even emboldened to put a roasting pan in there today, which was also cleaned to perfection!

Bryan brought so much detergent, that I am thinking of starting my own wash and fold service! The Fresh Start sure brought back laundry memories! Fortunately, I never saw runaway suds "a la" the Blob pour out of the shed!

Frigilux: Restraining order? I don't believe the two Bellville policemen could handle our group! LOL

The house seemed so quiet and empty this morning! I miss the din of laughter and conversation. This was great practice for a convention! Thanks to everyone for a fun time! We'll definitely do it again! :-D

Re: This is for Venus:

as well as everyone who were able to attend the "Wash-In" also. First, to Venus, did your surprise take place at all over the Weekend, of use for any parts of the Meal{s}?

Great Pre-Pix's of the fun you all have had. I've still got the Gibson "Badged" "W-W" Washer, that looks just like yours Austin and I've got the actual "W-W" Gas Dryer to Stack on the Washer as well.

I hope that maybe I'll be able to attend at least 1-Wash-In sometime next year, with it being hopefully the "Big-One" wherever it will be held at. Am I hearing the "Big-Wash-In" at the Wilder's next year!!!

Peace and Happy Wash-In Weekend, Steve
SactoTeddyBear...

There was some minor concern over that 1-18 load. I said "Load It Up." I shoulda tossed in a couple more of the towels that were floating around the room.... By the way, I shoved my arm down the 1-18's maw while the towels were processing. Nothing quite like it, yay!

Folks, I'm so terribly sorry, but I personally didn't get any pictures of anything, so you'll have to depend on more coming from the others. I had my camera on charge Thu night in the spare bedroom, and totally forgot about it Friday afternoon/evening. Then on top of *THAT*, I forgot to take the $@#$& camera to Bellville on Saturday. Among other things that were forgotten are chips and dip and soft drinks in the garage fridge. UGH. [hides face in shame] But it was fault of being distracted by all the fantabulous visitors. Really. Seriously.

(Barry and Carol, we missed ya!)

I can say that Jason (AS USUAL!) took some outstanding video.

Bob managed to confuse my IWL12 at least once, probably several times. Hell, at one point when the cycle ended, the soil level lights started flashing in agony, and the display had a little "H" and "M" at the extreme margins. I figure that was a signal of HELP ME. Pull the plug so it forgets, carry on. (No, the truth is that I had been playing with diagnostic mode, and probably triggered some mysterious subfunction that I'll never be able to find again.) Other than that, it didn't miss a beat. Upon watching a double-load of sheets slowly-but-surely roll over, Mr. Appnut's remark was "I'm convinced."

We ran the waiting-since-Monday DishDrawer load late on Fri night, everything came out perfectly clean. Bryan, unfortunately, missed that. "You ran the DishDrawer? I didn't even hear it." (Hey, being kinda woozy after a flight and a drive can do that to ya.)

Ms. Venus of the '59 Frigidaire Kitchen, aka Retromom, aka Den Mother, put on a fabulous display of hosting, right along with Mr. Wilder, and Miss Hayley of the barnyard contingent (she wants a hedgehog, dontcha know!), and Mr. WestyTopLoader Himself. Man, anybody who wants to feel right at home in TX, do Bellville. Austin's "wash shed" is the "It Place" for Austin County and surrounding areas. First and last generation Frigidaire mechanisms in the same room, how can you lose!!?

Steve & Jeff, mucho thanks for the Maytag parts. I doubt I can show as much finesse with it as you, but I'll sure try.

Bryan, mucho thanks for the laundry supplies. Already tried the White King. And I'm set with Downy Enhancer for a good while. :-)

Glenn...did ya say ya missed me???

Awww....if ya did....I'm sorry I missed out on this wash-in. I am so glad to see you all had so much fun. Hopefully another one will be happen soon, and I will have time and funds to join in the festivities. (I'll bring good munchies too! LOL)

Right now, I am working 2 jobs, 7 days a week. 2nd job will end next weekend. Im under a "temp" contract with KBR on another project right now, and not sure how long it is going to last.

Things have been buzy and hectic, to say the least. I haven't even had a chance to put the tree up. And, it has really been depressing at times......

Friday, I HAD to have my wonderful faithful Fuzz-Butt kitty, Jasmine, put to sleep. Had her for 10 yrs. She had been so sick, and eventually became paralyzed totally....It was so hard to let her go. At the last minute, my daughter requested to take money from her Christmas gifts (which I haven't even had time to shop for) to have her cremated. So that was done on Friday also. I feel better for doing it, after finding out all the options, on what happens afterwards...etc...etc...etc.

On a happier note, I hope everyone is having a wonderful holiday season! I've missed not being able to read posts in here, and it just takes so long to "catch up".

Didn't mean to high-jack the thread...but let's have another Tejas wash-in for 2006~! I would love to come and meet everyone.

I certainly hope 2006 is a better year....this one has really sucked for me....

Carol, yes you were missed. I thought of you numerous times.

Well, I had a great time. And as usual, terrorized appliances, whetehr they be new or vintage lol. The Wilders were awesome hosts. Den Mother really was in her element as were Tom, Haley, and of course the man AUSTIN. We definitely all took a walk on the Wilders side of life. Austin's laundry studio is a sight to behold. The pic oc the White Westy above sent chills down my spin as I was experiencing it real time. I kept expecting to hear Pearl Bailey's golden tones shoutin' out "DAAWLIN', you usin' my machine at its best." I loved the sight of having a WO65-2 and a 1-18 right next to each other. And to be there when Bryan actually experienced nh person his first Frigidaires!! Was worth my patients and anticipation (and thank you Jason!!). And Jason was his usualy washer fun, bubbly self. Between Unimatics & Kenmores, it's a thrill to be around Jason. Incidentally, jason & I drooled over Venus' 1959 Range--after we drooled over it's productions on our tummies. And as Jason said, it all tasted even that much better knowing it came from a vintage Frigidaire range. And Steve & Jeff, what an awesome pair. Was so nice to spend time with Steve, wish I'd had a chance to spend more time with Jeff. And last but not least, Bryan. He fit right in right off the bat. What a guy (plus an outstanding cheuffer for yours truly) A thank you to the Wilders and Glenn and esspecially RJ. I know Glenn's IWL-12 is going to be in shock for the next 6 months. I doubt it's EVER seen that much laundry in a relatively small period of time, much less so many large loads. But it all smells so nice and am enjoying the various scents acquired form Austin & glenn & Bryan's detergent/softener offerings. Words can't desribe what I feel after us Texans finally beginning to get together--and it won't be the last by any means!!

My First Wash-In . . . .

Wow......

is all I can say. You guys (and gal(s)) are SO AWESOME! We had TONS of fun at Glenn's house Friday evening, and an AWESOME time at the Wilders' house on Saturday.

Bob and I were the first ones to arrive at Glenn's house Friday afternoon, and I got to see Bob try to KILL the F&P with his typical "Bob-loads". I felt so sorry for that poor washer. Amazingly the F&P was up to the challenge, and cleaned everything superbly. Glenn was a wonderful host, and is just an all-around GREAT guy. Bob, the gentleman that he is, made sure I was properly introduced to everyone in the club, and RJ was AWESOME (and even let us all invade his house to see his literal HOME THEATRE. Jason arrived next from Louisana and made sure we had plenty of video footage of just about everything that went on.

Steve and Jeff arrived soon after and Steve kept everyone in stitches. They are both great guys, and I am now working on convincing them that the next "wash-in" should be in Florida. Venus and Austin arrived later that evening and the party really began. I even saw an agitator dance (and it wasn't even attached to a washer!!!). After much visiting and a great Mexican food dinner, I finally passed out around midnight and missed all of the F&P Dish Drawer fun. I can't say for sure how quiet that machine is, as not much could be heard over my SNORING! LOL.

Saturday at the Wilders' was AMAZING. We all received a HEAPIN'-HELPING of Texas hospitality the entire day. Venus (a.k.a. Den Mother, a.k.a. Super-Mom) made sure we had PLENTY of snacks and refreshments, and Hayley and Tom were amazing hosts as well. Austin, as I expected, has a BRILLIANT collection of vintage washers, vacuums and even portable washers. I experienced my FIRST LIVE action from a Frigidaire, and now covet a Unimatic AND a 1-18!!!

After a GREAT dinner, too much dessert and some more visitin', we called it a night! After watching a few more "Bob-loads" in the F&P's (and experiencing my first SUDS-CAKE courtesy of Mexican Roma detergent in the Eco-Active phase of the wash, I headed off to bed again to rest up for my journey home.

Thanks again to EVERYONE for being so friendly and welcoming, and making me a part of the automaticwasher.org family. I must say I now have a desire to host a "fix-in" to work on my 1970's model Maytag washer, and to try to impress you guys with my culinary talents. Too bad Lubbock is just SO FAR from the rest of the Texas contingent. Distance, however, means nothing and I hope to see you all again very soon.

To those who have NEVER been a part of a "wash-in" before, I encourage you to do so. I haven't had this much fun in a LONG TIME!

Unfortunately I must now start a busy and hectic week, yet I shall carry with me the memories of this cool event!

Bryan (Tex)
