Hello to all aw members,

first of all I would like to say a big thank you to all aw members for making me realise that with my 2004 generation 1 duet washer to use warm or hot water if needed if I have to use cold water it depends on what needs to be wash, I relly do not understand why my brother and his girlfriend with there new he topload are so key on washing in cold water last night I have seen them with my nieces but they said there washer was noisy and its a maytag the model in the picture is the set they purchase they are even using the normal cycle witch is the low water fill cycle. I am sure if they would use warm water and maybe the deep fill water cycle there washer would be less noisy but its not for me to tell them that they will need to find this out for themselves.

You're welcome, Pierre. You were a hard one to convince, LOL!

It is rather ironic that I now wash more loads in cold water (temp-controlled in the winter) than I used to. I really like the Cold Wash cycle on my Maytag 8100.

I can honestly say that my brother and is girlfriend do not relly know that the true cleaning power of an he top load washer comes with using warm or hot water depending on the load if my mom and I would of purchase a set like this when we had to replace or washer dryer back in 2004 I would have it set to warm water wash and adjust depending on the load

I just really can't imagine even having an HE top load machine. It is too hard on the clothes and cannot wash well in a tiny amount of water that they use. Just no comparison to a front load machine, which actually CAN wash and rinse well with small amounts of water.

no need to worry the trouble with my sister in law my brother girlfriend is that she hates frontload washers sigh well I am happy with my generation 1 duet and it made my mom and I decide to stick to front load washer dryer set unless its to costly but so far on 13 years or generation 1 duet still works

The way I look at it you wouldn't expect to wash dishes in cold water. They may look clean but you just know they will be crawling in bacteria. Only thing I will wash in cold water are my blue jeans as the colour runs like mad from them but they go in the dryer on high heat
