Hey everyone. Thank you so much for all the welcomes! So many kind hearted people out there. I haven't been able to start a collection for a couple of reasons, the first is, money is pretty tight and although I know I can find vintage machines pretty cheap the second reason is I don't have anywhere to put them! LOL I live in a 2 bedroom apartment right now. But when I get back on my feet and get a house and some more cash flow, I'll get started lol. Steve aka SactoTeddyBear and Red Carpet Drew, I live in Fresno/Clovis, the lovely Central San Joaquin Valley lol. I'm sure when I'm able, I'll find some steals around here easy. Although I'll need some lessons on fixing them lol. Cars I'm good at, but I've never tackled a household appliance, but I am willing to learn. Again thank you for all of your warm welcomes. After reading many of the message threads, I can tell that you all are a very fun group. And hey, if anyone is looking for any kind of machine or machines in particular, washers, dryers, kitchen appliances, please let me know. I'll definately keep my eyes out for you. And if I may, a small suggestion, a chatroom where we could all get together and chat with each other would be a cool touch! (wink) lol. Thanks again everyone. And hope to chat with more of you soon!

I live in Sacramento, hence that part of a couple of my screen name{s}.

What Brand/Year of Washers and Dryers are you going to be interested in collecting, when you are able to move to another residence, where you will have space for your collection?

I have a long-time Friend who's Family just moved from the Fresno area last year. He calls Fresno "Cow-Town" because he hasn't ever really liked the area.

Anyway, again, welcome to the Appliance Club Site and enjoy reading the Postings and finding out a lot of info that as with me and many others, might not have known before.

These Threads are also helpful places for finding out more "How-To" if you get stuck while doing Repairs, there is always someone who can help others.

It'll probably be a while before I can get a place to be able to start a collection. As soon as I do though I'll let you know. I'd like to start with a 1971 Lady Kenmore washer and dryer set. My grandma still has the dryer from her set, so that could be a start. The washer died in the mid 90's. A 1976 Whirlpool washer would be cool too. We had one in avocado green til it died in 2000. Very few problems with those machines if I recall. Just an occasional broken belt or timers going out.
Fresno is quite the Cow Town, I'll agree with that lol. Although we do seem to be moving up, or trying to anyway. Although the surrounding areas like Lemoore, Hanford and Visalia can be quite stinky with all the cow pastures around them. Luckily here in Fresno we don't get that smell often.
Thanks again for the welcome. As soon as things get going for me I'll let you know. I'm kind of intrigued by the 50's styles Frigidares too. The agitators in the 60's and 70's models seemed to get too fat and not have as good of rollover as the earlier models. I really hope I don't offend anyone with that comment lol. And if I did I do apologize.
