Not to detract from Tog's "Absolutely Disgusting" thread, but I thought it would be interesting to see what (food ingredients) people really enjoy eating.

Some of what would be on my list (prompted from some of the comments in Tog's thread):

Black ripe olives - I can easily eat a whole can and come back for more...
Italian varietal zucchini (stir fried is the best)
Baby back ribs that fall from the bone...
Rotisserie chicken
Unagi (eel cooked Japanese style)
Peruano or Mayacoba yellow dried beans (soaked overnight)
Who doesn't like a nice grilled choice or better ribeye steak?
Wild pacific salmon, gently sauteed not grilled

I used to like all sorts of pasta, especially chow mein and udon, but currently I'm eschewing wheat products so that list is on hold. I'm settling for rice, potatoes, corn in the meantime.

A couple nights ago I made Talapia for the first time. Salt, pepper, a little margarine and the juice from one lemon. I and liked it, not something I would have everyday. I have never been a huge fish fan with the exception of Cat Fish.

My favorite foods are Italian and Mexican.

I like most meals simple, plenty of selection, but simple.

Give me a

pasta bolognese,
rotisseried chicken a la Ron Popeil oven,
orzo with tomato sauce and cinnamon,
pound cake
green vegetables with a dressing of oil, vinegar and lemon juice(not fried and no butter)
Peas with onions in tomato sauce and dill

and I'm a happy camper!

Of course a good lasagne or a mousakka (mouse ka-ka) here and there is good for the soul, too!

Realy lovin' the Gadgets
Three-bean salad
Broccoli slaw
Cole slaw with craisins

Some of my favorite things:

-broccoli
-cauliflower
-cabbage, my favorite of all vegetables
-string beans
-polish dill pickles
-sauerkraut(best cold straight from the jar)
-olives of any sort
-feta cheese
-swiss cheese
-ham
-lamb
-garlic(I love eating whole cloves)
-kielbasa
-miracle whip
-noodles
-oleo(prefered over store bought butter, unless I have time to churn my own)
-fresh spinach(never canned or frozen)
-dandelion greens

Favorite Food

My favorite thing is good old N.C. Barbecue, This is pork shoulder, cooked 8 hours over hickory coals, chopped fine, topped with a vinegar sauce, served on a plate with red slaw, french fries, and hush puppies, washed down with sweet tea...a real health nuts nightmare, but we go to Lexington barbecue at least once a week....You can't get it anywhere but the south!!!

Kedgeree...

....is a mixture of smoked haddock, basmati rice, hard boiled egg, onion, chopped parsley, curry powder, salt, freshly ground black pepper, LOTS of salted butter. Is a real treat and I find it almost addictive so only cook it about twice a year or would be as fat as a house!

Nothing beats fresh seafood IMO. Favorites are salmon, halibut, mahi-mahi, ono, shrimp and scallops. For some reason I never developed a taste for lobstar or crab, but I'll drive lots of extra miles for a good shrimp cocktail. At some restaurants I order 2 or 3 and eat them as a main course.

Hey Sam, when can I move in. The only thing I don't care much for is spinach unless it's raw in a salad. I've never had dandelion greens either. But everything else sounds good.

I'm not too fussy....

.....when it comes to food...

But some of the things I really love...

- Stewed lamb 'Chump' chops with carrots, parsnip, onion...looks insipid, tastes fab
- Roast shoulder of Lamb with crispy potatoes, roast pumpkin (butternut squash to an American), peas and carrots with a lovely peppery gravy and mint sauce...
- Ditto Roast Pork
- Ham 'off the bone' on plain old stodgey white bread...butter and my mothers chutney
- Crispy bacon sandwich where the bread has been 'dipped' quickly in the bacon fat rather than buttered...with fountain 'steak sauce'
- An Australian hamburger from just about any take away...bun, meat, cooked onion, lettuce, tomato, beetroot, cheese and BBQ sauce
- A nice piece of fish very lightly battered or crumbed and fried served with tartare sauce and lemon and with slightly crunchy, salted chips

Kedgeree sounds like Indian cuisine...

Speaking of curry, my favorite all time curry is the Thai vegetarian green curry, with green bell peppers and tofu (no meat). There's a restaurant in San Jose near where I used to work that introduced me to it. Sometimes they put a Keiffer lime leaf in it, which adds a special touch. I've yet to duplicate the dish at home, but I have plenty of coconut milk stocked just in case. And recently I found a powdered curry mix for green curry at the local South Seas/South Asian market in town (Mangals). I'm sure the dish is fairly fattening, what with all the coconut fat, but it's quite delicious.

I love

Steak, Roast Beef, Chicken
Lobster, Swordfish Steaks, Grilled Salmon with Lemon Butter.
Broccoli, Brussels Sprouts, Cauliflour, Carrots, Potatoes, all preferably fresh.
French Bread, Italian Bread, Soft Parkerhouse yeast rolls, Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream, always use butter, not margarine and real sugar. I can't stand the taste of artificial sweetners. I can tolerate Equal in a pinch.

These are a few of my favorite things . . .

Sausage and pepper sandwiches

Olive oil-basted roast turkey

Angel hair pasta with grape tomatoes and artichokes

Pot roast with potatoes and carrots

French onion soup

Yellow butter cake with chocolate butter cream frosting

Peanut butter cookies

A (very) few of mine:

A good hamburger. Freshly hand patted, and broiled. Bacon. CANNED tuna, not fresh.

Asparagus, broccoli, carrots, potatoes. Romaine based salads, not necessarily Caesar, but I do like his company.

Jif creamy peanut butter. Only Jif.

Milk. Cow, 3.25% fat. Butter. I rarely eat meat more than 2-4 times a week, so I feel ok about REAL dairy.

Cheese. Cheddar, Ementhaler, Brie, Munster, almost every one but plastic wrapped American.

Bread.

Apples, bananas, cherries, apricots.....

Cashews, pistachios, macadamias, walnuts, pecahns,

and McDonald's McCafe iced hazelnut coffee. If only they would offer it in decaf!!!!!!!

I like most steaks (medium at the least, closer to med well), chicken, turkey, most pork. I love to smoke up some BBQ as in ribs, brisket, pork shoulder, etc. Here in PA Dutch country we have some fantastic sausages (I prefer smoked to fresh). I love PA Dutch-style Chicken Pot Pie (done with rivels not actually in a pie as in some other parts of the country).

I am not a big fish fan, but I like Halibut & Haddock. I am not a big salmon eater, but can tolerate a small piece. Crabs, steamed clams, & shrimp are ok. I like fried calamari.

I recently got into eating escargot. Snails in garlic butter. Fantastic. They're kind of an earthy clam.

Not a big veggie fan, but I love onions, garlic, bell peppers, & some mushrooms (only sauteed mushrooms though not raw). I do like to season up some big portabello shrumes with light ceasar or italian dressing and throw 'em on the grill. Speaking of grilling, I grill & bbq all year long. I love that taste.
