This video is taken from my new iPhone4 which records high def video right to the phone. Be sure to view it in full screen mode as well. Our vintage washer videos have come a long way since those tiny little washer action videos I first posted in 2001.

I'm really surprised how well that came out -- and from a phone no less. I know apple makes great graphics and video products, we have an Imac and a powerbook. Still think I prefer my windows computers for everday use. Thanks for the video, very nice :)
 
Looks really good....

I posted a comment on Youtube this morning but it did not show up for some reason.

I am impressed with the video.
The colors are very true to life.
I also find that the sound is much better than most videos of "machines running". Usually the recorded sound of a machine running creates a very thin sounding ringing noise.

Very cool reproduction with your Iphone.
 
Hi Brent, I saw your comment this morning. The video yesterday was uploaded directly from my phone to Youtube. The phone compresses the video so much that it doesn't look very good. This is a new version that I downloaded from my phone to my PC first, then I uploaded it to you tube from there. There is much less compression so it looks better.

I'll have to take some more videos, its easy with the phone!

...and it is! I have an iTouch now and couldn't imagine getting through a day without it. Car radio? What for?? I'm all about the pocasts, audiobooks and a maybe a little music now and then but that's another thread.

That has to be some of the best video I've ever seen from a phone! The iPhone apps, features and styling are just incredible, I can't wait!

The pregnant Roto-Swirl is one of my favorites - I like it so much more than the later version.

My phone doesn't even have a still camera, let alone video - I'm lucky there isn't a bag and a 5 pound battery!

Exellent quality, The Lady Kenmore 57 was the first washer I used (the lovely white one, before it was sent...oh well!!) at the 2001 convention, the pinks do look fab together though!! just love the roto-swirl and the waterfall fountain, you`ll have to take a vid in the dark with the ozone lamp and see how the phonecam makes of it!!

Excellent quality, Robert! How many minutes of video can you take on an iPhone?

I notice your lint filter doesn't have the little knob in front to hold it securely in place (see Chestermikeuk's photo in Reply #12).

Our 1960 Model 80 didn't have one at first, but at one of the fairly frequent visits by the repairman, he installed a new filter housing unit which had the securing device.

Before the changeover, a thin stream of water would shoot straight up (sometimes as high as 6-8 inches) from the rubber seam, where the filter and the housing meet. This usually only happened when the filter was full of lint. It looked a bit like a whale shooting water from its blowhole.
 
I'm surprised to hear that your 1960 Lady Kenmore didn't come with a Key Latch filter Eugene!!!

I was under the impression that the 1957 models did not come with a filter lock/latch key, but in 1958 after the filters started to leak they changed the design of the filter housing adding a key latch. I guess it must have been later than 1958. I've seen my '57 filter spray at the gasket like you described. On occasion it caused a stream of water to go over the tub ring and create a major leak of water on the floor!
 
Robert, I love the Westinghouse slant fronts! Didn't you have a couple dishwashers there originally?
Yes I had a '49 Youngstown Jet-Tower dishwasher there before.

The light is a Ozone-germicidal lamp Erik.

Robert, it's hard to stay friends with the Brits without ending up some day with a washer in your kitchen, ya know!

Why did you pick the Westies for the kitchen? They look great. Is there a thread about the transfer? I noticed this about a week ago, maybe two, but didn't see anything. Be it ever so humble, there's no place like Automatic Washer.

I assumed you did this to open space in the basement for those Fargo finds? Any pics?
 
Hi Jed, this change made space for the Maytag set. The pretty new Fargo Kelvinator replaced the old wood-grained '66 Kelvinator and the rubber tub machines are still in the garage yet.

Robert, you say more vids? Can you do your 1962 Hotpoint? BTW, I really appreciate the enormous effort you make to maintain the site/club. I'm a new member and just getting to know everybody, but they seem to be a great bunch of folks.
 
Hmm!

I see a nice new feature of the Iphone! :D Excellent quality video! It has to rival my nice digital film camera! WOW the sound. Most phones have a buzzy, thuddy, sensitive sound.

My old iphone had really really bad picture quality and audio quality. Thats quite an improvement over the past few years!

What a beautiful looking. *and sounding* machine!
