Thanks Robert for the videos. I was able to get the 1st spin today, thanks for fixing. This Hotpoint doesn't mock the 1958 GE Filter-Flo in the cyber library, so I'm guessing that Hotpoint used to be independent. If not too much trouble, would you mind throwing in some full view photos of this machine?

Robert - those were some wonderful videos. The detergent cup was marvy also - and the Bewitched sound effect made the whole thing. Now if we can figure out how to work in an "I Dream of Jeannie nod/blink to cover the bases....

Interesting ad, it mentions two spray rinses and calls the agitator an "Aquatator" not "Thriftivator."

Hotpoint did use a passive lint filter on the long-neck agitator in my 64 model (co-axial tranny) and the Fountain Filter burp-up came out shortly after that. You can just see the filter under the detergent dispenser in this picture - a two-part sleeve then went down over the agitator shaft.

That ad is interesting and yes it does talk about two spray rinses. The model in the ad is either a '54 or '55, I'm going to guess its a '55. According to the 1954 CU article that is posted here in our library, the Hotpoint came in dead last in their ratings of all Automatics. Its says the Hotpoint uses 13 gallons of hot water and 42 gallons of cold water for an entire cycle, this makes a grand total of 55 GALLONS OF WATER! I bet it did a 1.5 minute cold spray rinse in the first spin as well as in the final spin. Good thing they redesigned the machine to use only 42 gallons of water for '56 by removing the spray rinses, but they should have left the first spray rinse and cut out 1.5 minutes of static fill.

Robert do you know in the above AD if the 55 wonderdial worked the same as the 56 you did the demo with? On the 55 the dial seems somewhat different? We had a 55 but it was bol.

Fantastic Robert, I just had a chance to download the videos!! What a great job, love the fact that you have added your voice to a couple of them. I just love the lighted colored buttons on this machine. Sometime if you could post a picture of this at night with the console light on that would be awesome. I know this is a lot of work to do and just wanted you to know how much I appreciated these. Now since you are going to be swooping by Fred and Jeffs I could use some of that "Samantha Magic" around here as well!! Thanks again. Terry

Hi Pete, I think you're right, it looks like the dial on the '55 doesn't have that fancy wash time selector ring.

I brought home a Norge about the same year as yours the other day,along with a 1957,or 1958 Norge. They are not in the same condition of your 56 though. Mine look more like something that was brought up from the Titanic. >: It was all I could find that I wanted from the Indiana junkyard. Will post some photos of them at some point soon.

The '56 Hotpoint looks FANTASTIC in its new location in the main room!!! It's also amazing how much the "lineup" in your basement studio has changed since you first posted pictures of it...I wonder what new additions will be brought along 2 years from now?
