Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

Low 30's here with freezing rain. Had freezing rain in the morning, but it warmed enough in the afternoon the pavement was just wet, although trees still ice covered. Rain started again about dark, and trees now iced more. Power has gone off twice in the last few hours for less than a minute. Would not be surprised if it goes off and stays off for a number of hours when the expected high winds arrive. The block to the north of my street has been out for about 3 hours now. According to the Duke Energy website, there are over 10,000 customers out in the Cincinnati metro area. I turned my heat up to about 80 so house won't get cold so quick if power is out.

Reminds me of Doctor Zhivago....

Something about all this snow and ice reminds me of those wintery scenes from Doctor Zhivago. A lot of people love that movie but I have to say it really looked like all the people were freezing their butts off!

Continental

cancelled my flight to FL for 2/2/11. We're having freezing rain and sleet tonight; airport is all but closed. I am half out of my mind with S.A.D. and snow every two days here. In NJ we are not used to/prepared for this.

If I ever get my flight to FL, I'm going to anesthesize myself with Milk Of Amnesia (gin) and forget I have to come home to this.

If that groundhog sees his shadow tomorrow, please, someone shoot him! Or me!

Still don't think we have had quite the snowstorm here since the infamous "October 25th snow storm of 1997"

Our old house had a huge tree fall on it. For some real odd reason the roof wasn't totally smashed in. It was a massive oak. Another tree came through our front picture window, and a bathroom window

Power was out for well over a week. School canceled for a long time. No Halloween. Ugh it was a terrible year for a little kid!

Wow!

I hope the rain that is leaving the Atlanta / Georgia area does not turn into snow for you all up north!

24 here just north of Houston. Our furnace decided to act up again.

What it does is it runs normally until it gets down to 28F. Then when the furnace runs it reaches the assigned thermostat temp and the gas turns off. But the fan continues to run without ever shutting off. Then it's just blowing cold attic air into the house. Once it starts this, the gas will not turn back on until you turn the unit off and wait for the fan motor to stop. So you can wake up with a house temp of 50F.
We tried to get it fixed several years ago and 3 different heating guys told us that the part we need (fan controller) isn't available anymore and that we'd have to put in a new heating system. Since we only get below 28F two or three times in a year I said screw it.
So we are just turning the furnace to off, and putting out oil filled raditator heater in the bathroom adjoining out bedroom and will sleep under a nice electric blanket tonight.

Ugh you guys are weak!

Its about OF or so outside right now. Windchill probably even less.

Was supposed to be -30F windchill but dont think it quite made it.

Ralph:

It was a very nasty window that was kinda dirty for one, and you could NOT distinguish between the sidewalk and street. That's how bad it was here today.

We got 7 inches in the last 24 hours here in NH and are expecting between 12 - 24 more inches by late this afternoon. supposed to be 1-3 inches per hour starting right about now. put this on top of the 55 inches we have had already. enough.

Up here in Central WI where this kind of weather is considered somewhat the norm, we're only getting winds and low temps. I almost feel guilty, NOT! Just kidding guys, be safe, and snuggle up with someone you love.
