You know those kind of sharp snap noises copiers make when they grab the sheet of paper and then deliver it? I would like a copier that makes BIG heavy solenoid noises like an old crash-bang Speed Queen washer.[this post was last edited: 8/18/2020-22:06]

big iron copy machines

My dad worked on copy machines for a bit around 1975-I think they were all Xerox back then.I used to drag copy machines home from the dump back in the '80s and 90s,American and Japanese machines with a big main motor and lots of solenoids, sprockets ,gears, cog belts.Salvaged lots of good parts.:)

All I care about is that the copier/printer make good copies without needing a ton of maintenance.

I did the HP Inkjet thing but got tired of ink cartridge nonsense.

Have had a Canon Image Class MF8050CN for the past ten years, zero problems. Takes four dry cartridges, like a color Xerox machine. Plus the ink don't run.

I have a Canon Image Class something-or-other model at work.  Got it several years ago on a sale price $269.  It's insanely heavy, barely managed to get it myself up the stairs.  The toner cartridges are $147 each (or $140 for Quill-brand), so total $588+tax individually for a set of four. Combo of the three colors (yellow, magenta, cyan) is $60 less than individual.  I use it as the scanner copy output and for whatever needs to be in color ... not as the primary printer, be too much consumables $$$$$.  The cartridges don't last near as long as the HP laser.  It needs all four cartridges changed now and there's no fundage due to COVID shut-down.

Well, I don't print much here, and last time I had to get cartridges I found them for about $70 ea online. Aftermarket, but they work just fine.

For basic B&W printing there are better choices, of course.

But for color, this thing is awesome.

Was historically an HP fan. I still maintain one old (2004) HP Inkjet printer just because wide carriage printers for B size 11x17 prints are 'spensive. I have physically had that printer apart at least 5 times in the laundry tub for cleaning. If there was a better wide format option then one couldn't pay me to have an inkjet ever again.

I had one all in one HP B&W LASER that was OK but it had lots of issues all due to software and drivers. I replaced it with a Brother and it is SO SO much better in every way but was about the same sub $300 price.

Sorry it doesn't clack though, I suppose one could wire in a big contactor to pull in for the audible effect as each page is run ;)
