looks like a badly worn bearing.......so is it just the drum bearing or both parts that need replaced?

Nate....is the machine salvagable?...or too far gone to save?...is what you need just the drum bearing or both parts?
I'll make an attempt to speak for Nate on this matter until he has a chance to access this thread again.
The dryer does seem to be salvageable. It's very quiet and only squeaks some of the time, presumably with a heavy load.

The washer. Apologies for no money shot but, you've seen one 80's Filter Flo, you've seen 'em all. Nate got the spout and pan installed, adjusted water level and installed the front leveling legs, which were missing. He advised that it's one of the sweetest running Filter Flo machines he's ever heard.
The owner ran a set of sheets through afteward and the pan capably accumulated a big clump of dog hair in short order.

Dryers rarely wear out. The bearings and felts can be replaced on most. Finding a timer can be a goosehunt on an extremely old one.
Most dryers are replaced because folks want a matched pair.
A couple I know got a new dryer because their expert repair guy said one cannot get a timer on such an old machine, theirs is a early 1990's dryer.
Thus declaring parts are not available is a good gambit to sell new dryers!
My 1976 Westy dryer went 2 feet underwater in Katrina and still works. The coil burned out about 2 years ago and I replaced the coil. The coil broke exactly where the coil kit adds a new standoff. Did the original coil that dies after 29 years die due to Katrina; or that lack of the added standoff? The lint filter rusted out and I got a new one off of ebay. I added new felts 2 years ago and a new belt and back trailer hitch ball too for good measure. A spare timer was 20 off of ebay; motors are all over the web and ebay for little price. I will get another 30 years out of it.

Parts ordered
I ordered the bearing and a kit as well, since I don't trust that things aren't chewed on this. Definitely a shot bearing as there was only the tiniest ribbon of rubber left where the whole assembly used to be. Oops!
The parts are on their way to Ralph's (with a repair manual, since I'm familiar with Whirlies but not so much GEs), and we'll get 'er done.
These machines are super quiet--very, very nice. Someone took the liberty of applying filler already on the washer where the inner basket had struck the outer tub and blown the porcelain off. Classic FilterFlo design.
The addition of footies to the washer stopped the samba-dancing that had been happening during spin.
But you watch--we'll tear apart, clean, and replace the bearings on the dryer, and wouldn't it be hysterical if it still squeaked? LOL

When Ken and I went to look at this pair, the seller, a pretty girl named Megan, advised about the "little squeak" the dryer sometimes made and speculated that "the belt probably just needs oiling."
Now that's hysterical!

I'd love to host and show off the awesomely beautiful Northern California Redwood Coast...here's the latest inventory up here:
