What do you all think?

Or do you?

Me, I thought it probably was the only way they could wrap things up and maintain what sanity they had left.

That said, it was a bit on the ordinary side, what with the intimation that the whole experience was really a post-death journey through the seven levels of Hell with the bright light of Heaven awaiting those worthy of the distinction.

No I didn't count the levels but I imagine someone will.

Although I'm a bit disappointed the whole thing didn't have a more scientific raison de n'etre pas, I'm sort of glad it wrapped up so I get get my Tuesday and/or Wednesday nights back and not be so obsessed with trying to figure out what everything means.

But I still want to join the Dharma Initiative.

Rich, I watched the very first episode and decided right then that there were going to be way too many situations that simply couldn't be explained. It all seemed so gratuitous. I'm kind of glad I didn't allow myself to get caught up in it. I wish I could say the same for American Idol. Go Lee!

I guess it got Lost in translation.

I haven't seen the final episode yet and don't expect much from it. The story is simply too convoluted to pull together into a big bang finale. With only one final two hour episode to go, I can't imaging how they will bring all the elements of the story together to satisfactorily explain anything to the audience.

It is my guess that the writers have tired of the story and they just want to wrap it up.

Anyhow, I will watch the last episode on Wednesday. I've stuck it out this long and might as well finish it.

Lost was Epic!

I followed the story all the way through. All the while, not trying to analyze every detail. It is just a tv show afterall. I think what pushed it to the top for me was the beautiful musical score that carried you through it. It was like a little piece of a movie each week. It will be missed. I wonder what will float up and fill the gap...

What will follow LOST?

Well, I think it's already started...

"Flash Forward" I think capitalizes on the time travel aspect of LOST. Can't say I've watched it yet though. I can take only so much time travel per week.

Flash Forward

To my knowledge, Flash Forward has not been renewed. This will be the last season for FF.

I think Fringe is a better solution for Lost fans.

As I recall I tuned into the second half of the first season, and was intrigued.

As I recall, the second season tended to meander, with a lot of less than significant side stories, the most notable of which might be the couple who were involved in some sort of state-side diamond scam and double double cross, and who wound up getting paralyzed by a spider and then buried alive with their diamonds. I think LOST lost a number of viewers that season. I do remember the silly Charlie's Angels mock adventure series that featured the girls shouting "Razzle-Dazzle!" as they kick-boxed the bad guys into submission, lol.

It got way more interesting once the hatch was opened and the legacy of the Dharma Initiative was brought forward. There were some very memorable scenes, such as the opening with Desmond getting up and putting a Mama Cass record on the stereo, echoing throughout the Hatch, and then shooting himself up with useless vaccine before sitting down at the computer to punch in those numbers.

To its credit ABC followed up with a number of very intriguing internet games, puzzles, and mysteries that built on the base of the series. Unfortunately just when it got really interesting, the recession hit and ABC cut way back on the extra stuff. I was all set to join the Dharma Initiative, lol.

And this is where the ending sort of falls flat. There was so much exquisite detail in the six years of the series - how on earth could that have been a GROUP DREAM?

Well, I watched the conclusion last night.

I agree on the music score. It certainly plucked the emotional heart strings and was pretty easy on the ear. Apart from that, Lost went on for too long and its conclusion reminded me of the joke about how one keeps an idiot in suspense. At the end I felt like I had been watching a Swiss cheese with too many holes and not much substance - a bit of a shame really.

One thing that would be interesting to find out:

Did the writers have this ending in mind when they first started the series, or was it something they dreamed up as they got in too deep and realized that it would be the only way to end it without having to explain the impossible.

But I think at the end they played it too safe and we were left with a dull thud instead of a big bang.
