The good news is that I finally got my 1-18 out of my room and painted!! YAY!!! The bad news is that I've discovered that the pump leaks! It looks as though I'll need to replace all the hoses going to and from the pump as well as the pump seal? Also, I saw that it says don't oil mechanism, however, it's squeaking... Is there a certain place on the mechanism I should oil? I can tell that it squeaks on agitation, but I can't tell on spin because, of course, this is like the loudest machine ever when it spins! lol

Well, I cleaned all the roller surfaces, and nothin... I think that the roller that connects the pump and the agitation... driving roller(I guess that's what it's called) is squealing. It looks and feels as though it's made of a soft rubber or plastic. Could it be worn down? It seems that cleaning the outside surfaces of the rollers made the squealing a bit louder...

Check the rollers for clues as to how they are wearing. Lines in them, parallel to the direction they turn, are normal. Lines or ridges across the direction of travel, show trouble. Then they need replacement. It is fairly normal to hear a squeak now and then with the Rollermatics, so don't freak over a squeak!

According to Mr. Andrews (a retired Frigidaire repair specialist) the approved method of cleaning rollers on a Rollermatic is "Ronson" lighter fluid----which Frigidaire actually supplied to the techs out in the field. Of course they were kool with that, as in those days most of them smoked, and kept their lighters well fueled!
