I was watching a documentary about 25 years of Watchdog when something caught my eye...

I remember hearing that Hotpoint washer dryers had some fault which caused clothes to get ripped or something and loads of people sent in their ripped garments. It was quite funny and seemed to be effective for Anne to start the 'washing line of shame' to get Hotpoint to listen up at the time...

Anyone remember this classic moment of Watchdog? See at 16.50 on the youtube link. Also there's a lovely shot of a 9934 a couple of seconds later...

Happy watching!

I thought that it was a special version of Persil back in the 70's or 80's that made clothing fall apart too?

Ah, Anne Robinson. She was known over hear as the ever insulting host of the television programme "The Weakest Link". Most people watched the show just to hear her insults to the game players.

"I think a village somewhere has lost its idiot!"

"You are one can short of a six pack"

etc.

whirlcool, it was for Persil Power in the mid-90's.

I thought this clip from Watchdog with the line of shame WAS for Persil Power, not Hotpoint WD's?

Dryer

And what could this be about? I have a similar problem with my Creda dryer, not that it has Matt Allright in front of it, but because the dryer sheets get stuck in the filter. In fact, I'm passing it on soon as I'm fed up of constantly having to pull the sheets out of the filter. I'm swapping it for a Hotpoint 1731, and it looks like I'm getting the better side of that trade!
