And I ended up with Kirbys newest model-The Sentria-Its a striking machine-has a blue-white LED headlight that really helps you hunt those dust bunnies. The beltlifter is easier to use.The machine is slightly lighter than the older models. The handlebar design is diffrent.A large chromed metal panel on the front of the handlebar. The Kirby "bank" on the handle is gone.Present "G" series bags will fit-it comes with the Filtrete bags. And the "Handi-Butler" is back-will have the Kirby folks get me one-its an air powered devicelike the zipp-brush or Turbo Tool-The Handi-Butler is turbine powered and uses standard Dremel "moto-tool" bits. Its shown in the DVD owners manual that comes with it.They are putting the video manuals on DVD now.Its much easier and pic and sound quality is better. And its easier to skip chapters on the video. The bag has Orange, grey accents on it-sort of a design you would expect to see on 1950's curtains or drapes. The dual speed switch on the top of the motor housing is gone too-the Kirby saleslady told me the speed switch confused users. The bumper is wider on the nozzle as well. The saleslady will get me a "proof book" as soon as they are available.the machines were released onto the market this week.

The machine is their newest model-it is an improved versian of the "G" it uses the "G" design platform. They are improving the "tech Drive" even more-it is smoother than any of the older models. And with tech drive disengaged-its easier to push than the older ones.

pictures please! dont you already have a G-series machine, Toli? Kirby needs to stop milking the G-series and come out with a new model already! just like with Neptune and Maytag, i predict the upcoming redesign will make or break Kirby. any Vacuum Gurus with inside info, speak up! David

I have many G sereis machines-from the G3 to present.Kirby seems to like the "G" design.I thought Kirby would come out with a totally new design.the Sentria is pretty cool though.right now Kirby dealers are trying to closeout their selections of diamond G's to go to Sentrias.the salesperson that sold me mine says its her second one.came from the Kirby Dist in Raleigh-Durham.they don't show the machine on the Kirby website-I was going to link it-but they still show the older machine.I haven't seem any website that shows pictures.I also asked at the VCCC to see if any other members got one.Somehow I don't think Kirby will go out the way Maytag did.Maytag kept coming out with BAD designs instead of sticking with their tried and true-same with their sibling Hoover. Its probably just as well Kirby doesn't come out with too radical design in case it Doesn't work like what happened to Maytag and Hoover.Kirby is more conservative-Just as well.I am still trying to decide what camera to get-and how to download the pictures into a computer that isn't mine.

Yes,the vac is self propelled-still uses Kirby "Tech-Drive"Yes its metal. The fan, attachments are plastic.Kirby has been doing that for many years now.I would like to see them go to metal extendable wands, metal bare floor tool, and back to the metal fan.the sand here can erode the plastic ones.I would love to be able to link a site that has pics of the machine.I don't have a camera at this time-It would be nice to show pics of it-Its a pretty neat machine.I asked on this on the VCCC website to see if any other members got a Sentria. The "forum" part of the site isn't working.

When I checked the VACCC website-other members asked about the Sentria-they mentioned that when they E-Mailed Kirby-Kirby didn't mention their new machine-would think they would be proud of it.Seems like its being just released and maybe the Raleigh area is being used as a "test Market"I am anxious to have Applianceville and VACCC members see the machine.
