The Bosch took a turn for the worst when it decided that it wanted to leak. The leak started out minor, got Service to come out and look at it, and we where told that its unfixable. My parents where quiet pissed so they wanted a new one. So I talked to my GM at Sears and we ended up with the KitchenAid as an even exhange!

Here are some pics:

The KitchenAid is just about as quiet as the Bosch was. Actually I cant hear a difference. Havent run a load through it yet. My father and I just installed it and did a test wash and all is well! The 3rd rack is nifty, and having the hard food disposer is nice. It has all the same features as the Bosch did plus ProScrub.

I can't wait to run a Bob® Load through!

Hopefully this one serves us as well as our Previous KA (which was the DW the Bosch took place of) which is STILL running today after 15+ years :D

The Bosch was 4 months old. It started leaking right behind the door on the left side. In matter of 3 days water was shooting out of the door from the bottom left corner. The machine was constatnly filling and draining, wasting water etc etc. The Tech said that something was drastically wrong with the inards of the door and it was "un-repairable" He took it apart replaced the door seal, even the door, and it STILL did it. So Thats when I decided that Bosch wasn't the one for us.

Looks great!
Keep us informed on your thoughts of it after you do a heaping full load!
Thanks for the pictures!
Hope this one is better than the last!

It's a beautiful machine! Have always loved the KA racks. Hope this one gives you better service than your ill-fated Bosch. Too bad about the Bosch---so many at AW.ORG really like theirs and CR top-rates them, although their reliability rating isn't stellar; But when you get burned by a brand, sometimes there's just no going back.

Is ProScrub the feature that has extra water jets shooting at the back of the bottom rack to help clean pans, etc? If so, let us kinow what you think of it.

Thanks for All the comments Guys!

I love the KM Elite, but the little lights in the front IMO draw away from the intergrated design. Plus the KA was rated quieter and thats more what we where looking for!

The top rack can be adjusted so that you can put either silverware in the upper posistion or in the lower position for knives, spatula's long short items.

I absolutely loved the Bosch. It was Incredibly Quiet, cleaned VERY well, and dried decently (good, but not great). We had the SHX57C06UC and from the leaking the infoLight stopped working. I was going to get another Bosch, but they weren't available for delivery or pickup until October 1st!

Does this one have the new Optical Soil Sensor? Were the old ones pressure based?

BTW: TurboZone (AKA ProScrub) works great on my lasagne trays!

Can anyone advise if KA has gone with the top rack for silverware on all models or just this one? I really like that system and also like the clean front on the model you got Bobby. My 16 y/o somewhat BOL KA is doing fine but my sister needs to replace her way old Superba and I think she'd prefer the top rack to bottom basket for silverware, but no way she'd pay for TOL to get it.

That rack is only available on the highest end model. Oh, and someone here just may want your sister's "way old" Superba. Tell us about the condition and model #.

And please let us know....

If this KA leaves those 'Yibbles' on glassware. Hopefully KA solved this ongoing problem.....

Wish they went back to their excellent record of yesteryear.....

Hey, that's the exact KA I had back in the mid 80's! One lived with it for about a year, then moved and it stayed with the house. I loved that it heated the water before the wash cycle began.

I moved back into my parents' house after college to care for my Mom (lung cancer in a non-smoker). When she died, I replaced the 11 year old Lady KM (roto rack) with the above machine. Soon afterward, I replaced the 1960 KM Model 80 washer & dryer with a large capacity WP that had the winged Surgilator.

Now I wish I'd kept the old ones! I was SO sick of that KM washer. My parents bought it when I was a year old and they still had it when I came home from college! Now I'd give a heap o' money to have it back.

Chalk it up to the folly of youth.

Whoa. That's a '92? Is it a Hobart-made machine that heats the water before the first wash? I also had two other KA's----one in about 1990 (which just had the dial and a couple of pushbuttons) which I then replaced with a TOL model the first year they introduced the whole line with SS interiors. That was definitely a WP-era KA.

The above pic looks SO much like the one I had in '85. I moved in June of '86, so I know it had to have been before that...

Me confused.

Appnut, Thanks for the top rack clarification. I'm guessing my sister's Superba is a late 60's or early 70's model. She's in LA and I'm in the Bay Area so can't advise on the model number. She insists it's not cleaning well and leaving residue/particles. She lives alone and for years ignored this machine until she was told use it or lose it by a repairman but I'm afraid that advice came too late.

I think my own '90 KA is like the '90 Frigilux mentions above with crank dial on the left and buttons on the right. It has "Automatic Water Heating Quiet Scrub" although it doesn't seem very quiet to me. Still going strong after 16 years of use once or twice a week, but the motor has always sounded raspy when you open the door during the "dry drain" when it first starts up. Had it replaced under warranty way back when but the new motor sounded more or less the same and it's never been any trouble.

So Far So Good!

It cleans Very well and the sound level is amazing!

The 3rd rack does come in handy, and ProScrub is really nifty!

I cant wait until I have a BobLoad and post some pics ;)
