Here are 2 new machines to the collection,

Considering the cost of WM's and Logics etc rising we took the plunge and got in before it was too late to add them to our collection.

So heres a farewell thread to those workers and the factory who took pride in what they did and made great machines.

Spent a sunny afternoon in the garden tidying them up and getting them ready to go.

Hoover Ecologic 1300 in Harmony Beige.

The last machines to roll off the production line worthy of bearing the Hoover name, 17 years before Hoover were to shut,

1300rpm
Delay Timer

What colour is the drum paddle on hoover ecologic?
If it's not green then it's a logic with an ecologic panel etc. Because my gran had logic 1200, my aunt had ecologic 1200, grandads sis had ecologic 1300 and grnas bro had logic 1300. And one of my neughbours daughter is using her aunts ecologic 1300 in cream white.
Correcy me if i'm worng. Ok, But great photos and clean condition after your touch up.

My gran always used progra J on her hoover logic 1200 which was minimum iron 50oc and then when it goes on crease guard, move to F which was special treatemnts (final rinse). Aunt always used program C on her ecologic 1200 which was 40oc non colourfast cotton.

I can assure you that the paddles are green thankyou.
All our machines are genuine,

You can just make out the green paddle whizzing by as it distributes......

Prior to clean up.

I hope to see vids of the ecologic, although hotpoint is interesting it still is not as good as the ecologic, and my neighbour has about 20 to 30 of wm's in the garage for selling them to locals when their washer has given up but everyone refuses and buys a new one.

Ohhhh yes thank you, they are green can tell.
I so want it, hope its fully working and you have fun with it.
if you don't mind me asking, where did u get that beautiful machine from, i was going to get one from ebay (it was in Bradford) same colour and spin etc.

Fully working?

yes thanks it is.

Your neighbour has 20 - 30 WM's eh?

Shame the locals dont know a good thing when they see it I suppose. Folk can be so uneducated these days cant they :)

Videos of the Hoover and Hotpoint, who knows when they will come so just persevere as next weekend I will be sorting out our Hotpoint Countess and we will be off around local repair and recon shops that we have newly discovered in search of some other things to add to the collection.

Yep 20-30 but they've gone down now, but he's moving on to wma's now. He gets em from carboot and fromppl with broken machines. Fixes em up and makes loadsa cash...........erm........

hi aquarius1984,

I applause anyone who is doing up an old appliance rather than buy a new one and I dont want to discourage you in any way from your hobby, but as a service engineer I think it may be a bit too early to start collecting the WM range, there are loads and loads out there.
Done a bearing job on one yesterday and fitted a brush set on one this morning. The square door hoovers on the other hand, only seen three in the last two years, two ecologics and one logic, they are becoming very rare.

Anyway, keep up the good work guys!

If I ever have the space for a FL washer, that Electron 1100 is the one I would want. Had a flat in Battersea some time ago and was one just like that there. Loved the way it washed, seemed very gentle on the clothes but very thorough, unlike the Hotpoint I had after that which seemed the opposite!

Electron?

You mean this one Paul,

Never dawns on me half the time we own the Electron.

Found exactly the opposite with wash performance and thats not because I am biased towards Hotpoint but was sorely dissappointed with the Hoovers wash when we first got it.

Rather short tumbles and lacking in the rinse department yet wasting all that water too.

The 3060's had the best programmes with decent spins between all the rinses not 1 between 4.

Better than anything modern but I wouldnt swap a NIB one for any trusty old Hotpoint.

My opinion though ~

Hope your well, been umming and arring about sending you an email, perhaps I should of but didnt want to pester you incase you were busy.

Invitations I made last year still stand, just let us know.

As much as I want to like WM Hotpoints

I too have to vouch for their less than desirable washing results and roughness on clothes.

They do an ok job, providing things are thorougly pre-treated and pre-washed, but ours used to wear the print off t-shirts after one wash, even when turned inside out. It also had a tendency to get things like shirt sleeves stuck between the tubs and they would have to be cut to be removed.

I thought maybe we just had a bad one but most people I know who have/had them experience the same. The rinse was pretty poor too. Low water levels made even worse by them often not doing interms because they were unbalanced and only attempted to spin once on the interms. Don't even get me started on the racket on spin! The extraction for the spin speed is pretty poor too.

You can get things clean on delicates in my Hoover that would not have come out clean from the WM52 on cottons.

They're very pretty machines, but the hinges aren't strong enough for the weight of the doors and they always seem to break off. Not only that but the button on the door is a bit awkward to open.

I know people say they are basically the same internally as older Hotpoints, but I really hope they're not. The ones I knew of seemed to do nothing but break down, ours only lasted 4 years. Most unreliable machine we've owned I'm afraid to say, worse than the candy made hoover or current whirlpool.

Not wanting to cause controversy, it's just my personal feelings and experience.

Hoover's aren't perfect either. Nothing can compare to the likes of Miele though, whether it be a vintage or modern one.

Matt
