My EBay purchase arrived the other day. It is in great shape. Fibreglass body so no rust. The spinner won’t work. Motor is dead. I thought it might be related to the motor being operated by the lid switch but the switch seems to function. Not quite sure what to do next. The washer motor works perfectly and turns the drum, any and all suggestions welcome on how to find out what is wrong with the spin motor.

Very Cool!

Hey Simon, CONGRATS on your unique find!

In one of the photos it looks as if it's missing something (a handle or trim piece on the end?). Is it supposed to work?

Best of luck with it and I look forward to more photos and video!

Hi Simon,

Both motors run continuously on this, it uses mechanical linkages to stop and start the action.

If you remove the black plastic cover on the bottom of the motor, disconnect the cord from the terminals and then with a multimeter set to resistance confirm whether the motor windings are open or closed.

Be careful running it dry, the pumps are very fragile and I'm yet to meet lightburn that doesnt have a pump that drips at least a little bit :)

Congratulations on the find.

Cheers

Hi Simon,

I hope you're able to sort through the problems/issues with this and get it working again!

Question: Is the washtub solid? In other photos I can"t see any perforations. How does the water drain out?

Westy is doing great, my father is doing good, thank you for asking.

Kevin

Hi Kevin,

The tub is solid. There is a screw plug in the tub. When it is time to empty you unscrew the plug and move the hole in the tub to lowest position. Water then drains with gravity in to a lower tank and then the pump pumps out in to the Landry trough. It is a very basic macine so I hope I can get the spin motor going, getting some really good advice. Now it is the weekend I will have a go and see if I can get is working.

Cheers

Simon
