Hey all,

I finally quit hemming and hawing about pulling the Whirlpool Direct Drive out of service in favor of my 1993 Maytag.

After much junk shifting, dryer moving, lots of swearing, and a lot of arm and lower back pain, the Whirlpool now lives under a sheet in the basement and the Maytag is sitting proudly in the laundry room where it has already done several loads of wash.

I will be recording and uploading a video of the full cycle from fill to finish soon. Until then, some photos will have to do :)

First pic is the Whirlpool coming out.

Second is the Maytag going in.

Third is the maiden spin.

Fourth is the odd couple.

Fifth is a glamour shot.

This was a 2004 Direct Drive Whirlpool. Your 1984 belt drive is a much nicer machine, for sure!

I prefer the smooth silky sound of a belt drive washer to the steam engine-esque chunka-chunka-bang sound of the direct drive transmission.

I also like the spin drain and spray rinses the Maytag does.

In your case, Keith, neither washer is a bad choice!
