Today's ad in the local newspaper has a Maytag Neptune(MAH6500AWW) for $549! Large Capacity front load washer; 4 wash cycles; internal water heater

That's one thing I loved about CT - many of the appliance stores, Maytag in particular, had live demo machines available that you could try before you buy. What fun!!

Do any of you remember how Maytag needed that special door construction with the spring-loaded snubber panel that helped stabilize the tub during spin? Now, on service calls, techs are told to remove that assembly since it is not needed, making it sound like a window could be more easily placed in the door.

I just went to the Maytag store here in Tucson. I thought that they were supposed to have a washer connected so you could see it operate. They said that they do in their Phoenix store.
It was very bland in the Tucson store so I went to Lowes instead and bought a Whirltag center dial which is being delivered tomorrow. I will post pictures.

I have to admit, there is nothing like a vintage Maytag,but I do think Whirlpool overall can and will improve this new branding of Maytag.

Roger and I have both been intrigued by the Whirltag for some
time now. I have 3 vintage machines in the repair shop and
3 machines waiting to go to the repair shop. I have decided
to diversify and add modern machines to the vintage machines.
I think it is best to use modern machines for daily drivers and just use the vintage machines occasionally. Lowes is supposed to delivery Whirltag this afternoon. Roger and possibly Nate coming tomorrow to check it out.
