This new design does have some potential over the DD "blender Washers"Yes-more I watch and hear the video-like the long sure strokes and the sound.Any way we can get a video of the motor and drive system in this machine while its in action-that would be very interesting.I am figuring WP has gone to Kevlar grooved belts for this design-such belts are used in small appliances,power tools and some automotive uses.Such belts will easily last the life of the machine.A good thing.I may even investigate buying one of these newer machines.
I really think it is very close to sounding very much like the original belt drive WP and KM. It is so nice that is has a much faster spin speed.
Jamie if you get a chance, can you record it draining and doing a high speed spin?

I just got the Kenmore version of this washer a few days ago and so far I really like it. Underneath it looks like a very simple drive system. Also looks easy to service, even easier than my old direct drive Whirlpool.
One thing for sure, its much quieter than a direct drive Whirlpool. I guess time will tell if this design will be as reliable as the previous ones.

Thanks Jamie!! Seems like it still manages to move the clothes around quite well.
It looks like some versions of this machine have been around for year or two as Kenmores and Maytags and Whirlpools.
The ones with the autofil feature seem to have mixed reviews and I see yours does not have that feature.
I have also seen comments on long cycle times.
Have you noticed that the time to complete a load of wash is significantly longer than older top loaders like the direct drive machines ?

All of the other versions of this machine, with the autofill, are HE impeller machines. I have one of those too, labeled Whirlpool Cabrio though it's not a true Cabrio. The stores around me have had this machine for only a couple of months now. The fill does take longer as it restricts water flow for the spray rinses. To make the machine simpler, Whirlpool put on valves that restrict the flow of water constantly making the fill take a little longer, but not much. The machine does use use the tub break during any of the spin cycles to stop the tub either, it allows the tub to coast to a stop. The lid locks as soon as the machine is started and unlocks at the end of the cycle or when all parts have stopped moving if the machine is paused. (This can take a couple of minutes if the machine was spinning.) Other than that, the machine doesn't really take noticeably longer. Maybe 5-7 minutes longer overall. The machine takes less time than a normal washer if the single spray rinse is used.
Here's a video of the machine doing it's full 700 RPM spin with a proper Whirlpool agitator!

Other than the pump doing it's sucking/cavitating, it sounds like a Unimatic ramping up to some extent lol.

This is a wonderful machine, Jaime, and I'm so happy to get a chance to see it. Loved how you immediately installed a proper agitator. Funny
And Bob, I could have sworn I was listening to a unimatic too; for me the sounds are identical, minus the chugging.
How cool is that: Whirlpool gives a memorial hug to her powerful sister who did not survive.
So cool and evolved--the multiple agitation strokes in succession.

i had the portable version of the "world washer" years ago, very good machine i loved it, very fast spin, although someone described the noise of the motor as the sound of a zipper going up and down, i agree i sounds different.
Thanks for all the videos, Jamie. Is that fabric softener dispenser in the spinning video from a KitchenAid agitator? Looks exactly like the one on my circa '89 KA.

Yes indeed! The softener dispenser is a from a KitchenAid! Most beautiful dispenser award in my book! Here is a pic of it and the machine's new agitator which I got for Christmas from my dad!
