The US First Lady, Michelle Obama, dropped in on the couch of Samantha Cameron, the UK Prime Ministers wife this week on their State Visit to Ireland & The UK and the world now sees the newly designed kitchen that the Blairs so much wanted to have!!! In a week when world events have us turning on a pin with wars, tornadoes, deaths, famine & crass politics, this is trivia but am just a little bit proud of the fact that one of the appliances has been designed & specified by our in-house team!!

Looks stunning in that picture.

As for the "iron lady" the cooker is a late 1970s Cannon Foldaway (eye level grill (broiler) which folds more or less flat onto the splashback), Electrolux fridge - a free standing model which has been built in (probably replacing and earlier similar model), dishwasher looks to me like a Zanussi, but of a slightly later vintage than cooker or fridge. From the size of it, the Microwave looks like a late 1970s Tappen badged as Moffat. And do my eyes decieve me? Is that a (totally dire) Haden Autoboil kettle? HATED THOSE! She would have been better sticking with the Swan kettle shoved up on top of the cupboard next the fridge. My guess is that teh kitchen is very late 1960s or early 1970s which has been updated with more modern appliances

OOOO

Maggie has a Rowenta Viewline?? Kettle, My Mum had one of those for a short while.
Certainly is a Rowenta. gran had that model too which did last longer.

Dishwasher is a Baucknecht by my eyes as the dial has the coloured insert on its face.

Microwave may well be a brother (lower case b :P) judging by the door frame and the location of the screws and ventilation slots its identical to mine.

No.10 also had an early version of the Vax 101 - white hose version which is pictured in one of the Maggie books on Pauls parents bookshelf. Ought to scan that one in. Maggie posing beside it while inspecting building renovations.

The Rowenta...

Hey Rob
Its Express you are thinking of- I believe thats the 2nd version my Great Aunt RIP had the first....
