I think you're confusing Bill Cullen with Bud Collyer, who hosted the original versions of "BEAT THE CLOCK," and "TO TELL THE TRUTH" as the bow tie-wearing game show emcee.

I saw an avocado portable GE toploading dw like the one shown at a local church rummage sale this past Saturday.  It was in beautiful cosmetic shape.  They were asking $35.

I think I remember reading that Bill Cullen had polio as a youngster and had one leg that was affected. He did not move around much, as I remember.

Since contestants had to pay taxes on the prizes, many were left in the studio to be offered on the next episode.

Ah, the voice of the late great Don Pardo in that clip!

Tom, you're correct about Cullen having mobility issues.   I'd never seen him anywhere but behind a podium until I viewed the clip Ken posted above.

Original Price Is Right was a panel show with Bill Cullen who was the first choice for host when it morphed into the stage show but his mobility problem let the spot fall to Bob Barker, host of Truth or Consequences. (Yes I'm that old.)

It was always a shame about Bill Cullen not being able to transition to the New PIR.  I know Bob Barker has a big following and with good reason, but I am not among them.  He never had quite the 'edge' that (IMHO) would have made him a great game show host.  Bill Cullen, on the other hand, had that in spades; as did Gene Rayburn.

Drew Carey is a great surprise and very welcome talent to continue the hosting duties of the PIR.
