The return of the red GE badge

When I saw a recent TV commercial for GE's line of ridiculously overpriced, er, uh, restaurant inspired Cafe appliances, a wave of nostalgia washed over me.

Hmm. . .where have I seen that GE badge? Then it came back to me: In the 1957 one-piece GE stainless steel topped range/dishwasher/sink/washer-dryer (later a cabinet) unit in my parents' Levittown-based home in sunny SoCal. At one end of the countertop/backsplash is just such a badge, but long since faded from cleaning.

I'll try to get a few pictures of the kitchen but for now, see if this conjures up any memories of vintage GE.

My parents '57 GE Combination had a red badge, too. Wonder if it was one year only?

The 1962 GE SW transmitters at the site I work at have GIANT red GE badges.

I like the look of the Red Badge, and very much like the look and features of their Cafe line, but certainly not the price!!

Actually the "REAL, LAST" GE Red Badge was on the old push-button cook top modules; and it LIT UP, too...!
