The return of top loaders?

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Wondering if you're underloading.  Contrary to what seems intuitive, too small of a load for the fill level can cause items to bunch-up together instead of distributing properly ... like what can happen on a spin-drain machine when the load is too small, floats and congregates together when spin starts. Some VMW models have a proper dual-action agitator with independently rotating auger, some don't.

All of the one piece porcelain tubs of the vmw design can use any of the agitators of the older DD washers as they have the same tubs and agitator spline so ANY of them should fit. I just ordered by typing in agitator replacement for Whirlpool washers or Whirlpool flex vane agitator. The single actions work well in these.

There really wasn’t a comeback. They’ve offered top load models ever since HE corrupted the industry. Whirlpool for example has gotten lazy as we’ve known for some time, and recently they brought the look of a two piece agitator back for some of the models. In which the lower piece has a joke for fins, and the agitation driven by these motors are weak compared to the classic Direct Drives. It’s essentially a wash plate with a dual action clothes mover stuck on the center of it which makes it appear like a classic agitator, but couldn’t be farther away than one. The only top loader nowadays that will clean clothes is the new LG model which was mentioned. I have no clue if it’s reliable, I’m not the person to ask that question. It was cool to see the belt driven whirlpools with the same dual action surgilator that they used for decades with the DD machines, but since then WP has gotten very lazy with washers upon the downfall effect from high efficiency coming into play many many years ago now.

To reply #45 your "facts" are a little short sighted. The Amana will wash as well or better than most of what LG offers as a top loader. I've used my machine for over a year now and have filmed over 40 loads with the machine.

The truth is many of the old beloved machines you won't be able to get parts for anymore unless you can somehow fabricate parts or find other machines to swap out.

The only way things get better is if we demand better. Why don't we all flood Whirlpool with emails demanding better quality ?

I would like the top loader designs available in Brazil sold here. They have some pretty nifty designs and the styling is very contemporary. We get top loaders from Asia, why not Brazil?

I still don’t understand why Fisher & Paykel have discontinued their top loading washers in the US. Their top loaders are good performers.
