Congrats Mark thats a nice looking machine u've picked up.It also looks like it weighs like a tank lol. Love the Hotpoint next to it too with those lovely buttons and progress indicator that whizzes back at the end, oh the memories.

Continental Girbau sources its toploaders from Alliance. They are the same machine.

Most laundry operators leave the water level of the washers at the factory preset of 11 inches.

That looks like the normal agitation speed to me. It appears faster because of the agitator fins flying by...
 
Nope... Continental Girbau is it's own company. They are based in Spain, and their offices here are in Wisconsin and Florida. Overseas, they are simply "Girbau". In the USA, they are "Continental". They do not make topload washers and they do not make any dryers.

Continental Girbau gets their topload washer from Alliance and puts their own name on them. Alliance is the makers of SQ, Huebsch, Unimac, Cissell and Ipso (amongst other industrial brands -- kinda like Whirlpool snatching up brands and other competitors).

Continental Girbau dryers are from Dexter.

You are correct. This is the basic model so basically all that you can change is the water temperature. The timer has only the one function so all the wash/rinse/spin times are the same. I actually like it this way and it dosen't bother me in the slightest.I really enjoy using it.

The agi is great at cleaning, in fact I am more impressed with the cleaning than I thought I would be. It cleans excellently. The rollover is great also. I was also more impressed with it than I thought I would be. The load thats pictured was old duvet covers and towels which I took along when picking it up to use in the car to line the boot and to cover the machine with. They were not the cleanest to begin with as they had been on the garage floor and used to clean up things in the garage. Well they came up brilliantly. I was really impressed!

It is one of the models that fills round the top of the tub in a circle. Its great. And yes it also has the double hook drain hose.

I also was quite surprised at the agi speed. I have read on here a few times I believe that the Speed Queens have a slow graceful stroke so was expecting that. For me though the speed is perfect. Not too fast or slow.

Steve - Thanks mate for the comments. It does dwarf the Liberator more than I thought it would and it makes it seem so small.

Basically this machine has gone far beyond my expectations and I think its fab. I really enjoy using it and am very impressed with all aspects of it.

I have now bypassed the lid switch. This was actually so much easier than I thought it would be. The switch is located in the control panel so simple to do. I will do some vids soon now it can be used with the lid open.

All cycle times are the same no matter what temp you select. Wash time is 10 minutes. Whole cycle takes about 35 minutes (Including fills).

Sound wise Its louder than the Hotpoint but its more of a "commercial" sound if that makes sense.

Im in process of loading vids onto you tube so will do a new thread once they are uploaded.

Glad you like your machine! How long is the rinse on this guy?

I don't know if they still do this, but SQ used to make 2 different mechanical timers for these machines. One has a shorter wash cycle for use in coin laundries where time is at a premium, and the other is longer for OPL and route machines, which it appears that you have, since the total cycle time is over 30 mins with fills.
 
Mark, sorry it's a bit late in replying I've been very busy to keep up with posts on this site but I saw your videos on youtube and have to say congratulations for gaining such an impressive machine! I've always been curious about these, used them on holiday but they were the type with the push button lid release that wouldn't even let you open the machines in the wash. So it's nice to see the wash action! I particularly liked the spin drains, very rare I understand to be seen on a modern toploader!

All you need now is a matching stainless steel washer extractor :-)

Peter the rinse on the speed queen is 3 minutes I think (agitation time). Thought it would be a quick 1 minute job so was pleased when it took longer.
