During a call today, I was talking to my customer about older appliances and stuff like that. She mentioned that she had a few things hidden in her garage that I just might like to see and that they might be available at some point. Sure, I said. I'd love to see them.

Little did I know what was waiting.

She had a Sunbeam 7-N mixer complete with both bowls and the upper juicer bowl. It looks just like mine. I forgot to get a picture. I know. Sorry. The other stuff kinda distracted me.

I'm told it was not cooling well in the fresh food compartment then, well, it was forgotten about. Yes, it needs just a bit of defrosting. This is the one that the door will open either way depending on how the handle is moved. Not in overly bad shape considering...

Neat glass chamber. It's supposed to still work but has been in the garage forever. Any ideas on how old any of these might be?

Looks like it doesn't come apart for cleaning like, say my HB. Hopefully, if it needs seals, they can be found and replaced. I might have a chance to pick these up if her kids show no interest. I don't know what they might be worth, if at all.

Still, pretty cool things hide on dusty shelves in garages...

I'll hazard a guess that the blender is a rare item.  Never seen one before.  Seems like Dormeyer took their cues from Waring and made it so you can't disassemble the container for cleaning.  Waring's instructions were to fill with a couple of inches of hot water, add a drop or two of dishwashing liquid, and give it a whirl.

 

I'll bet the racy Philco fridge that swings both ways will cool just fine after a defrosting.  Might it be missing a shelf?  Even if it is, it's a very desirable and -- dare I say -- versatile machine.

 

I have a couple of those Corning Electromatic percolators.  My hunt for an earlier model ended several months ago when I found one that appeared never to have been used.  It turned out that the heating element had a fault where the cord attaches.  Lucky for me, I had the same type of heating element I found all by itself at a thrift store a few years ago, so now I have a working unit with the stainless inlay on the top section around the diamond cut indicator light.  It takes a standard percolator cord instead of the custom type the later Electromatics require.  I have it for heating water, and just to admire.  I prefer the drip method for brewing coffee.

 

The trivets for those percolators are tough to find.  That piece alone may be worth more than the percolator itself!

When I was little, we had a blender of the same exact color and similar style, I think it might have been a Waring blender. the built-in NuTone replaced it when we moved to the new house in 1961.

That Philco is just jaw-dropping!  A couple of years ago, a friend and I took my son to see the latest Transformers movie (Dark Side of the Moon?) and one of the opening scenes had this refrigerator in a garage or shop.  My friend leaned over and asked if I knew what it was.  Uh, yeah.  1954 Philco!

Incredible! The Philco is a beauty - so rare to see one with all the interior shelves and compartments still intact!

I can't believe the Corning Electromatic perk is complete - you just never seem to find one still with the stand. Incredible!!

And that blender... Early 50s incarnation of the Dormeyer for sure. These are fantastic blenders - Noisy as all get-out, but very powerful. Is it the pictures or is the finish yellow?

Hope you can post pictures of the mixer...

At an estate sale about 4yrs ago I picked up the same Electromatic perc NIB for $5 that the owner had received as a retirement gift about 25+yrs earlier.  I too was very happy that the plastic trivet was included.
