WOW Torrential downpours, gusting winds galore and a blackout at the office already. HAPPY DAY!

It's been raining here now for 5 continuous hours. We must have gotten 6 inches already. Glad it isn't snow. I think every inch of rain becomes 10 inches to a foot (12 inches) of snow! YIKES!

What's it doing by you?

1 inch = 2.54 cm

Raining heavily

It's just slinging it down here in Montreal. When I left Ogden this morning, it was just raining lightly. The driveway there is going to be a nightmare if this all freezes up again!

It had been very warm here for over 11 days, quite a few days were above freezing and which caused our snow cover to come down from 11" to near 7" by last night. A arctic cold front moved in early this morning and normal January temperatures are returning. It's been snowing lightly all morning, very dry powdery blowing snow as the winds are howling. I absolutely love windy nights all snuggled in with the house creaking from the winds.

You must be getting our rain from yesterday when it was much warmer 6c, 43f. Today it's just gloomy and hovering around the freezing mark 0 c. 32f.

I'm just happy to see it's staying light out later :)

My bicycle lock was frozen this morning. Had to hammer it open. Also brakes were not functioning properly. Still managed to get to work :-)

It Rained

Like crazy here last night. I thought the wind was blowing but looked out and it was raining so hard you couldn't see well. I think we got about 4 inches. It came so quickly that storm drains backed up and some people had water get into their basements.

Absolute opposite here, some rain would be nice as its now been a month or so since we've had a sprinkling. Lows of around 15degC (60F), highs of 35degC (95F).

It turns my mind to imagine having multiple days below freezing. Here the snow is somewhere you visit not somewhere you live :)

It does sound very cosy though.

We had lots of rain and high winds into this morning. It was 59 when I left for work at 5:15AM and it reaached 65 shortly after 1PM, but reality is riding in. Temps are going to fall during the week and the weekend highs are not forecast to rise above freezing.

Looking slightly gloomy . . .

After six solid days of rain we finally had a lovely weekend, but it's looking like more rain tonight and maybe tomorrow. I just hope this storm won't be so obnoxious as the three last week - the gound is still saturated and muddy most everywhere. I do OK with two or three days of rain but after that I'm just over it!

Yesterday and Sat. were rather warm - low '50s, but it got windy and turned much colder overnight. Now it's mid 30's with a few snowflakes floating around, and tonite is going to be windier with snow. Tomorrow more snow with highs in the upper 20's. I usually like Winter OK until mid Feb. or so, but I'm ready for it to start getting warmer. The cardiologist wants me to go out walking everyday since my heart problem a couple weeks ago, and it's hard to get out when it's bitterly cold. Did about 15 mins. today, but got cold and came back.
