I received a call today from Whirlpool's Executive Office. They've agreed to send a full replacement of the machine!!! I was so excited I nearly fell to the floor. He's going to do his best to locate an MVWB725 in inventory, but because they have just been discontinued, I may be choosing a different machine equivalent in MSRP. I also have the option to upgrade and pay the difference, which opens up a whole world of decisions now.

 

He told me that what the Whirlpool and Maytag websites list will be current machines that he can definitely order, so as of this moment, the upgraded MVWB880 is my first choice, as it's the only Oasis machine left besides the Cabrio Platinum that has a much heftier pricetag. It has the slightly taller wash basket, and modified tub ring (which may improve the spray pattern of the recirculation), and has a few more cycles. It does have an allergen cycle, but I'm not for sure if it actually has a heater built in. If it doesn't, I'm not concerned honestly. If it turns out that I can no longer get an Oasis machine at all, I may be left to choose a new Cabrio, and so far the two that I'd consider would be the WTW8040 or 8000. I'm trying to do research to see which ones, if either, are the VMW platform or rotor/stator machines, and which ones have steam. On the website it's difficult to tell which has what.

Just got done getting the laundry room put back together!!! This thing is gorgeous. It's like the 725's sexier sister (or brother). The tub definitely looks much deeper, and the recirculation spray is perfect!! I was so worried about it, but it fans out perfectly and runs along the tub ring, so everything should have no problem getting soaked. I painstakingly took over an hour leveling it so that there is no wobble whatsoever, and the tub is centered perfectly below the cabinet opening. As I type this, it's running its maiden voyage in the form of a clean cycle with an affresh tablet, to get the majority of that weird sulfur-like "new" smell out, and also to let any conditioners that may be in the affresh to coat the exposed parts of the drive system so that maybe it will reduce the possibility of detergent causing any trouble (mainly because I'm super paranoid that this one is going to do something weird, so I'm taking every precaution I can.)

I'll have to catch some video clips when I get a chance. I'm excited to try out the new Towels cycle to see what it does differently.

I must have missed the post where you were having trouble with your other machine. It looks great and glad WP did what they did. I notice you don't have it plugged into a surge protector. PLEASE do so because you never know how sensitive the electronics are in these machines.

Most definitely!!! It feels like a completely different machine because it sounds beautiful. Hasn't set a toe out of line since getting it!! And I'm loving that redesigned outer tub ring on this one, because it causes the recirculation spray to fan directly down onto the top ring of the basket, and it deflects over and out like in the video. Not even clothes up at the very top of the basket get missed. Plus its quieter than the other one in general, not counting the horrid knocking and screeching, because it has that riser pedestal on the bottom that seems to contain some of the white noise.

Also, I didn't realize I had never really posted much of an update. This past month has been crazy with the boyfriend coming back from Australia and then the mother-in-law getting married right after. Then getting the new car! Time has flown by haha. But yes, I've kept a good ear out for it, but this new machine hasn't made a peep out of line whatsoever. I've been so impressed with it so far, and I'm loving the taller tub and the added options on it. That metallic grey top is sexy as well. It feels so odd standing in front of the "normal" washers in my family because of being so used to this gigantic beast haha. I look inside them and think "how in the world does this thing hold clothes? The basket looks like the inside of a sippy cup!" Lol. It's funny how what was "super capacity" back 10-15 years ago is now tiny in comparison to these new canyon machines. What I love is that in contrast to most of the 5.0+ cu.ft washers on the market right now, this one can actually handle a load filled to the top of the basket. It takes so much longer to accumulate enough clothes to warrant doing a wash!

hahaha, yes regular washers seem so small compared. I still have my Hydrowave sitting in my office and there's def a difference in it's stance.

Being single I don't accumulate enough clothes either to fill the whole thing. Closest I come is when i wash my bedding. I separate my clothes out by color but if I just threw them all in, it would fill it quite a bit. Largest load of clothes is my darks.

I'm doing laundry right now and I washed my work dress shirts not even 2 hours ago. Hung them up and they are almost ready to be put away. The fast spin speed is a huge time saver.

OKAY! So. I didn't get a tripod just yet, but I did fashion a makeshift camera setup consisting of a dining chair, a cardboard box, blue painter's tape, and my HTC One M8. I've gotten requests for full cycles so I figured I'd do one with heavy items like jeans and hoodies since those types of loads are the more "challenging" for an HE top loader. This load, if I recall correctly, was two pairs of jeans, two or three pairs of sweatpants, two hoodies, and a pair of dark shorts. It only fills this basket about half full, but it measured up to be a fairly stuffed load in the WTW4800 with its 3.6 cu.ft. basket, reaching up to the balance ring. I used just under the "Line 1" on the scoop of Gain Original, and just enough Downy fabric softener to coat the bottom of the cap.

Recording the length of the entire cycle proved a challenge because around the hour mark, my phone started yelling about low storage. 1080p video is a hard drive guzzler!! I had to restart it a few times and finally at the final spin I had to delete my 10GB Spotify library just to fit the last few minutes of spin, so at that point I just held the camera by hand. The only part missed in the video was the first part of the spray rinse, which can be filled in by imagination because I caught the last few minutes of it. In my opinion, the spray rinse on the newer Oasis-Bravos is more of a "purge" that soaks the clothes and allows the water to fall through, and it clears any soapy water out of the sump, but it seems to be effective when paired with an agitated deep rinse. Notice no bubbles and fairly clear water in the rinse?!

I love this washer to death. It really has changed my outlook on "new". It behaves so differently than what one would be used to with a standard agitator washer, but it also didn't take too much adjustment on my part. It's so intuitive to load and operate that now it just feels natural.

And also, notice no screeching and popping and knocking like Keebler elves in their shop?!?! Only the awesome sound of that SmartDrive motor.
