And it's actually not an appliance!!

I bid farewell to my 2001 Honda Accord EX-L V6 that I've been so dearly attached to for seven years. I've done everything in my power to keep it pristine, but 15 years is a good run for a car, and while there are no problems with it and it's in the shape it's in, I decided after some long thought that it would be best to get while the gettin' was good. I won't lie, I teared up a bit while cleaning it for the last time...

But.....I'm sure I can cope with parting ways, because now there's this beautiful beast. I am IN LOVE. It's a 2015 EX-L V6, and already I'm obsessed with it. These are pictures from when we had just brought it home, but I spent the majority of tonight washing it the first time (dealer wax is a joke, it melts away with just water) and tediously waxed and polished every inch of it inside and out. I'll have to take some pictures tomorrow. They also threw in the wing spoiler, so as soon as the parts come in they'll be installing it, as no car is complete without a spoiler. It should only take a few days.

I have to say, the two things I'm absolutely infatuated with, in addition to the amazing fuel economy on a 6 cylinder 280 HP engine, is the capacitive door handle on both sides, and the LaneWatch camera on the side view mirror. All I have to do is have the key fob in my pocket and simply touch the handle, and the doors unlock. And with the side camera, you really do see way more than you can with just the mirror and craning your head backwards. The camera can be toggled with a button on the end of the turn signal lever, so you can make sure you're in the lines on a narrow lane, and it helps with parking as well.

Very nice!

Why didn't you keep your old Honda for a second car?  It is in such great shape.

New Honda is very nice!

WOW

Love the way you kept the old one up. We'd get along very well, as only a hand full keep their vehicles and things up that way. I do too! Congrats on the new ride!

Looks like a sleek spaceship you got there!

Very nice. Enough stuff inside to keep a techie like me happy. Enjoy!

You kept your old one well! Reminds me how I am with Sophie, my 2006 Solara SLEV6 ragtop. Been busy converting/upgrading to all LED lighting. I'm also curious. Why not keep her as a paid for 2nd car? Had a feeling she still had plenty of life to give.

Hey he's pretty...

Oh you mean the car....I'm happily married anyway }:-)

That's how I'll be when the time comes to replace my work commuter...my 01 Beetle TDI that I've had since new and every mile put on him by me and still going strong at 214,000 miles....and PAID FOR.  I plan to drive him til the wheels fall off.  Our family car isn't driven all that much except to church, date night, or on vacations, a Lincoln MKS AWD.  Love those Accords too!  I see you got it at Jerry Damson...I've been to the one in Florence a few times and gone by the one in Huntsville while I was in college down there.

I have a beat up '97 Civic with 179K miles that I drive around town. Runs like a champ, even with a blown head gasket. Just add coolant now and then and it's good to go.

Thanks everyone!!!!

I would have loved to keep the '01, as good a shape it was in, but at the same time I've had it for almost 8 years, and I wouldn't have a place to keep it. Along with that, the dealership gave me $400 more for it than an optimistic Kelley Blue Book check for "Very Good" condition said I should have gotten, so I had to catch my breath and jump on it! Jayde and I had a good run and lots of memories, but now I have a new baby to tenderly care for. :)

And I've named him Phoenix. Since both cars were/are fully loaded EX-L V6 models, it's almost as though this new magnificent beast has arisen from the "trade-in ashes" in a new and improved form (and changed genders). :P

They estimate that the wing spoiler should be in by Monday, so though it is now fully waxed and polished, I'll wait to post pictures until the wing is actually on and it is truly complete.

Acura

Your Accord reminds me of an RL we used to have...man I loved that car, the 3.5L V6 in it would flat out GO!  Wasn't bad in the snow either, you know the kind we have down here that just makes a mess everywhere and then goes away leaving us to tend to the chaos it brought.  I hope you enjoy it...nothing like the smell of a new car!

Wow man, you're one of the few I've seen keep a car up like I do.  When it's trade in time I always get more than expected because I keep my cars clean, well serviced, and repair anything promptly that needs attention.  You save money in the long run that way.

Honda does a fine car and I've considered them before.  Right now I'm in a 2010 Buick Lacrosse which I absolutely love but I think I'm soon trading for a new Cadillac XTS Platinum -- we'll see if I tear up ;)

Very nice! Funny just yesterday I said I really want an Accord EX-L V6 in either white or silver and here you just got one.
It's one of the more practical cars that I actually drool over.
I drove a 2013 EX-L V6 coupe a couple years ago and it was such a sporty aggressive car, the V6 being my favorite part. I wanted to drive home with it so bad.
