There's a UFO in my Kitchen! and new finds.......

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

Hmmmm..

I'll trade you a Saarinen Womb chair and a vintage kit kat clock for your swag lamps and your washer. And I'll throw in some other chairs for good measure.

I think we better quit while we are ahead! Id never trade my GE washer for anything! Its the absolute best! and its running as we speak!! Besides, what would I want with a chair when I could put another washer or dryer in its place?

Speaking of chairs,

Speaking of chairs, Appliguy Patrick stopped by this weekend and the first order of business was to pick up some chairs at the Greyhound station. The box was crushed, torned apart and pulverized. However, the chairs were not damaged. There were two of them. I don't know the manufacturer of these chairs. I never saw these kind of chairs before, but I love them.

Other angles

OK, then I'll just have to find another Versatronic washer somehow. Bummer. Surely I have something you want?

No, it's not Knoll issue. I already checked.

Patrick and I hit a flea market that is usually not very fruitful, but we both managed to come back with some pretty cool stuff for dirt cheap.

Well Vers, you know I AM in the business where I find a lot of things. You never know when I might find another one....If I do, Id put you first on the list for it. Always keep that in mind.....theres still more than one out there/its just yet to be found.....

Both of you find the coolest things! Jimmy that light fixture is gorgeous with the built in night light. But tell me about those great clocks on the wall behind it. Great collections! Thanks!

Hi Don,
Glad you liked the lights. The clocks on the wall have an interesting story. The lower clock on the right (with the tulips) was a wedding present to my Mom and Dad. My brother and I broke it when we were kids, but it still worked so it was always in our kitchen on the wall. When I first started going to Goodwill, or Salv Army or flea markets many years ago, I started hunting for a similar one to fix my Mom's. I found one, but just didnt stop at one! Turns out there were many designs with the same face and they were made by the Hall China Co. I thought they were so neat looking that I put them all on the wall in a pattern, and have had them in every apartment or house that I have ever lived in. They are actually quite valuable now, and still see them on ebay often. I just love the detail on each one, and it was a thrill to be able to restore my Mom's original clock back to new.

Neat stuff, and what's that little tv on the left side of the Admiral console sitting on another tv? And what are all those appliances sitting on a shelf downstairs, I see percs and coffee masters, anything else we have yet to see?

Love that 1947 Admiral Entertainment Center-Looks mint. And the Seashell "Bias light"-you need one of those for todays home theater!I see advertisements for that Admiral Hi-Fi and TV in my 1940's and 50's Better Homes and Gardens Magazines.Admiral sure built 'em GOOD in those days-and to last-since the unit still works today.-And at least you can fix'em up.I would like to try to see a Hi-Fi or TV built today-running 50 years from now!
In a home we lived in the late 60's there was a "saucer" light fixture in our dining room-my stepmom didn't like it-but I thought it was pretty neat and useful-you could vary the height.
Another thing on "bias lights" Philips makes a plasma set that has what they call "Ambilight"that lights to the same brightness and color to the pixture on the TV-has a built in bias light and also sort of resembles the "Halolight" TV from Sylvania.

Swoon...

Madly in love with your entertainment center!

The fact that the television and everything still works is a dream.

Jimmy-- I LOVE your Admiral TV/Stereo! This is what I admire about the compatibility of television (and, inversely, hate about computers); you can take a set from 1947, plug it in and watch TV in 2005. All this nonsense about DVD's formatted for specific regions drives me nuts.

Second only to washing machines, I'm a maniac for old, automatic record players. I see you're playing some old 78's, too. Excellent!

Thanks frig, like you I love the retro stuff. Is my way of saying that the world is changing too fast, and we need to slow down and take a look back. In fact, when people ask me where I live, I always reply: In the Past! HA! I love my 78's and play them quite often. The sound is not high tech, but then it wasnt supposed to be. The imperfections only add to the patina of it all. I have a phonograph that plays 78's in every room of my house (except the bathrooms of course!) from Zenith Cobra's to Philco's to RCA Orthophonics, to Magnavox Micromatics. They all work (most of the time!) and also love to play the radios in them. Its just a shame that there is not more and better music on the dials now. Todays music is not for me......alas.

When I was growing up my parents had the same

Admiral console as you have pictured there. I used to lay on the floor and put my little feet up on the wood work across the speaker under the screen and watch TV. One day the doctor made a house call (yes, they did those back then) and when he saw me so close to the TV set he boomed out "get your butt away from that TV screen, you'll ruin your eyes!" I wasn't expecting that and since I think I was only 3 or 4 at the time I pushed back from the television using my feet only to break the wooden woodwork on the speaker and to also put my foot through the speaker! You should have heard my mothers's response! Fortuntely, the Admiral dealer was able to fix it up like new again. I think this was 1953 or something like that...

Great stuff Jimmy! And I love those ceramic clocks you have. How nice that you have your moms original one. (the fact that it was a wedding gift to your parents, and that you and your brother broke it all those years ago makes for an interesting story too.)
