As I didn't want to resurrect a 2 year old thread, I just copied the photo from it so you'd have reference. I came across one of these out here in Phoenix today. QUITE nice condition, really. I have always loved these visually, and am severely tempted to buy the one I've located. It's at a thrift store for $99 bucks (yesterday was 1/2 off….but I simply had no way to get it home!).

I remember these well back in the late 70s/early 80s but have never used one. I'm wondering if there is anyone who knows exactly how Microwave function worked on these? It has control knob for microwave, but no separate MW unit. Just twin ovens. Looking inside, I saw no indication that either oven actually functions as MW.

Think I jumped the gun...

on posting this….John Combo52 has posts here which I have just found so a lot of my questions got answered. I'd REALLY like to buy this thing--I've come across 5 or 6 of them here in the last couple years, and never grab one. Today's find is the nicest I've seen yet--but have no way of testing prior to purchase...

The top oven was also the mw. To use it you pulled the lock handle across until it stopped, selected your power level from 3 buttons and then dialed your time. These were great! Slow but steady and long lasting. It cooked a wonderful turkey as you could use the mw and heat at the same time. The original models had a small corningware type platform in the middle to put you small items on but was phased out in a few years. The home I cooked in for 32 years had one set of these and the other set was just ovens. They got used! G

Yikes, $50? Was it clean? It's too bad you didn't have a way to take it home.
Though I'm a little tired of the chrome and black look, this unit has lots of
appeal. I haven't used it, but reading others comments (and you probably got this thread, Allen....http://www.automaticwasher.org/cgi-bin/TD/TD-VIEWTHREAD.cgi?58666.....I wouldn't mind having one of these. I need at least two kitchens, for the stoves and wall ovens that appeal to me/us.

If you want one of these, you had better grab one when you see it. The financial disaster brought an end to the production of ALL micro-thermal ovens in the US. The only thing now is the Advantium which, while nice, is not a real oven like the Thermador or the Amana Radar Range Plus in the 30" range.
