An update, the new drier is great 1st class. before the new drier arrived I decided to look over the old drier and check and terminals all sound all ok, pushed the drier drum round no squeeks or resistance. Put the drier back together afer deciding yes its dead, untill the following day. I had decided finally to move the old drier to the yard ready to be taken away, now when I moved the drier I noticed a 5p coin and a 10p coin on the floor where it was situated . I then thought oh no no way please dont do this to me, I plugged the drier in set the timer closed the door and pressed start, lo and behold the darn thing had roared back to life. I can only assume the coins had been wedged in the pulleys, preventing the drier from working.

In that case you were likely to hear some kind of humming noise (when it was jammed) or seen some sort of activity... was there any? B.t.w. what was your old dryer? And how old was it? Thanks.

Sods law really....

The Westinghouse/Zanussi/Electrolux we have failed to pump the other day...so I drained it manually and let it do a spin with the cover off...

It refilled with water and proceeded to rinse....when it came time to drain, the poor pump sounded sick...so I turned her off, back on, off at the wall...anything to get the pump to cycle.....

Manually drained that one...

Repeated the above....and next thing she roared into life!

Fiddling saved me at least $120 in service fees....for what may have been something caught in the pump which has now gone...

no noise

There was no noise the drier was dead even though the on light indicator was illuminated, its a whirlpool I have had it ten years. it was used every single day, had no problems what so ever.

What a nuisance....

How annoying that you've just discovered this. Could've saved yourself a few quid. Sods law really.

I suppose you could sell one machine to recoup abit of the cost, or maybe keep both if you prefer.

Those older Whirlpools seem to last well. I don't think their new stuff is THAT bad either. Is it a condensor? I can't remember from your original thread.
