Yes,
we get out what we put in, like the economy last decade. Some have short memories.
Some states had 16% unemployment, along with 4 dollar per gallon gas, and that was in May 2008.
It was costing me a fortune to drive from interview to interview. I finally got another job, for almost half, counting lost benefits and vacation time.
I looked for work for an entire year. My unemployment compensation was even docked a little because of my severance pay. I could have filed for an extension, but would rather get back to work, so I saved the system some money. Too bad after sticking out that new job for two years I wasn't able to save any.
All I was doing was spending to work, and pay our mortgage.
My folks got sick, so I left to help them. I have not worked since. Now I get threatening phone calls for tax evasion from a phony IRS scam. I'll be paying taxes again when I draw my retirement. Five more years. Not social security though.
I'll wait until age 67 if I can. I worked since age 16.
