I think the time has come for me to pass this girl along to someone who knows how to work on her and wants to bring a vintage washer back to life. The washer is a 1958 General Electric two-speed Filter-Flo, Model #1WA850R1W, Serial #NR112477. I bought this machine right at 3 years ago from a CL listing in Birmingham, AL. It was very dirty, having spent a lot of it's life sitting in an unused basement, but cleaned up very nicely. Nothing is frozen, but it will not agitate and it will not spin. The tub and the post are very clean, no rust; the top of the Activator has been upgraded to accommodate a newer filter pan, using GE conversion parts. I do not have the original pan. The hardboard back, with wiring diagram, is still with the machine.
I would like to get $200 for the washer - the same amount that I paid for it. Shipping will be up to the buyer, and I can assist with access and loading. It is located in a carport storage room (no steps), located in the Zip Code 36609.
As they say on CL - 'probably an easy fix for someone who knows what they're doing'.
Anyone?
